if I update my giga files with .art files will the updates appear in kontakt 2?

All. art files are is the Instrument section of a .gig file. If your .gig's are already updated with the .art contents, they are just like regular .gig files and will show in K2 and load in fine.

K2 can't load.art files and do the updating, though.
