Hi all. I'm looking for a great sounding rock kit to load into my sample editor.
I have a track completed, but I'm struggling to match the kit sounds, (Kick from one kit, snare from another etc) so, would like to DL a complete and matched rock sounding kit.
Best bet?

Have them already. Not too keen. Don't really work with the track and the cymbals are very shoddy.

build a kit from GSCW Kicks+Toms, NSkit7 snare (maybe layered with a GSCW snare) and use Kingston's ruffriders/easyriders for cymbal/ride work
The latest BFD demo I tried sounded good too (only stereo , no multi out though but no time limits or noise bursts etc.)
Addictive Drums demo may have something useful too (only one kit, no toms but no other restrictions)
Peter aka Spe3d had a very nice kit with great character. No idea where it's hosted ATM.
Check the Yppse stuff too at Kara's site here http://www.kara-moon.com/index.php?modi ... m001_02_02

Hey Manc Chris,
What sort of rock kit are you looking for? After a lot of struggle, I found a vintage Ludwig kit online, and I've finally stopped looking.
It comes with 8-16 layers, overheads, room mics. The files are a little disorganized, but I was making my own sample set for the FLStudio drum sampler, so I was loading/tweaking the kits myself. I believe the kit comes ready to load into Kontakt or Battery. 16 or 24 bit, less than $20 download, and the guy who made them was very helpful, answered all my email questions.
It's not a "pristine" kit, I have the Battery Studio kits, they are perfectly recorded, but never fit into the mix. In contrast, the room mic samples for the Ludwig kit are very sweet sounding, and I've found that by adjusting the balance between the OHs, room mics, and straight samples, I've had no trouble getting the drums to gel. I also like the addition of batter samples for the kick and top and bottom snare samples. The cymbals are OK, not the best part of the kit, the toms are really nice.
My music is very 60s pop-ish, so it is perfect for me. I also love Ludwig drums, and have searched long for a good sample set. At the time I bought these, there were no Ludwig kits, other than a Reason refill, available to buy.
Taste in drum sounds is a very personal thing, but I remember from his site some good demo mp3s, and an interactive demonstration that was cool. Worth a check:

DrumsOnDemand.com one-shot's CD is one of the most "production/mix-ready" rock drum sample sets I've used, (and I've used just about everything besides AD.)
It's cheap and easy, and you get 7 or 8 great kits with totally different snares and kicks. A no-brainer even if you choose to add more to your collection later.

You could try www.stevenslatedrums.com too for ready-to-go rock drum kits.

+1 for Addictive Drums. Even though the demo is only one kit, I was pretty impressed, just cycling through the given presets, at how that one kit can sound so different with the built in processors. Very quick solution.
