Adds 'rounded tempo' mode, a workaround for Ableton Live MIDI sync
behaviour when running multiple Augustus Loops in a song, one as clock
master and the rest as slaves.

No "Multiply" yet?
It would be tremendously powerful if you could multiply the loop while overdubbing a longer layer to end up with a longer loop.

You can do that. Turn off 'delay inertia', and just set the loop to be the longer length - you should end up with a seamless 'multiply'.
Two provisos:
- obviously the 'max delay time' setting needs to be long enough.
- you'll want to have had the shorter loop running already for enough repeats to fill the longer length.
cheers,
os.

Hey, this is EXCELLENT! But which paramter do you hack at for doing it over external MIDI? I can't find "Loop Length" among the available parameters at the MIDI implementation chart published at http://www.expert-sleepers.co.uk/august ... /midi.html.
I have tried both to change "Beats" and "Beat Devisor" but the longer loop resulting from that doesn't repeat the old loop, only adds silence to overdub new audio into.

The delay slider is on NRPN 131 (right at the bottom of that manual page).
But using 'beats' etc. should certainly work - that's how I use it. It's just another way of changing the delay time.
Remember though that you can't do this immediately after playing the loop - if you want to multiply up by 4, you have to let the loop play 4 times before 'multiplying' it.

Many thanks OS. I'll try out all of them to find which one works best with Live 6.0.3 which is my host here. But I guess you have to pre-define a new loop length? The best would have been a function for simply increasing the length until you "close it" with the next command.
I'm up to duplicating all my favorite Echoplex and Mobius scripting functions for Augstus Loop in Live 6. It's awesome so far! Only missing the Undo function, but what the hell, just put on a serious facial expressio and the mistakes will go for "art"

I suppose you could have footcontroller buttons assigned for various settings of the 'beats' control, so you can change between loop lengths on the fly.But I guess you have to pre-define a new loop length? I'll have a think about different/more useful ways to control this in the future.
NB don't forget you're not restricted to simple multiples. E.g. you could make a 4 beat loop and 'multiply' it to a 7 beat loop. Useful for prog!

Yes, that the problematic part - I'd like to make that decision while playing "the multiply overdub". And it also calls for way too many foot buttons. I may have to look into some eventual solution using MIDI Clips in Live that send the "change beats" data to the plug-in. That's the basis of the setup I'm building now.os wrote:I suppose you could have footcontroller buttons assigned for various settings of the 'beats' control, so you can change between loop lengths on the fly.

FOUND IT!!! I took a break to visit the bathroom and was hit by the solution to this. I'll make a bunch of alternative columns in Live's session view and then I can mute everyon except the one I want to use (the collumns loaded with MIDI clips that send different data into he two Augsuts Loop's I'm playing around with). So depending on which column ("mode") I keep active the same foot pedal will Multiply into 5, 6, 8 or 16.os wrote:I suppose you could have footcontroller buttons assigned for various settings of the 'beats' control, so you can change between loop lengths on the fly.
Live 6 is so much better also, because you can finally assign one MIDI message (pedal) to multiple targets - something that made life with Augustus hard before.

Cool! You truly are an Augustus Loop power user - I'll have to get you to write a few chapters in the manual for version 2 (whenever that materialises).

Can you contact me off-forum to talk about that? If there's anything I can do I'd be happy to help out.os wrote:Cool! You truly are an Augustus Loop power user - I'll have to get you to write a few chapters in the manual for version 2 (whenever that materialises).

There seems to be no way of peforming Hold Rec except for using the mouse on the plug-in GUI?
It would be great if this could be done by stepping on external MIDI pedals. As for now you are limited to use only Tap Rec, by external MIDI control, and this means you have to tap the pedal two times insted of onece. This is a bit hard when you want to insert 1/128 notes for granular loop creation

Tap Rec and Hold Rec are exactly the same function - that's why there's only one MIDI CC for them both. The only distinction is in the GUI - the way the button behaves. Over MIDI, it's just 128 for record on and 0 for record off. You can choose whether you want your footcontroller to send 128 and 0 alternately (Tap Rec), or to send 128 on pedal down and 0 on pedal up (Hold Rec).

Ok, many thanks. This almost solves my problem (wanting to use a momentary pedal a'la SUS Substitute style). For my foot pedal I will then make a little MIDI Clip in live containing "128" and then almoste right after "0". I have already set up eleven key commands for setting the Punch In resolution.
Augustus Looper is really working fine now for live looping with Live 6... as long as you set the tempo in Live.
