...just an addition for some EnergyXT-sampler-resources: Kara Music have collected a nice list of staff, for example a layered pads samplepack by Mister phz (you know, the friendly KVR-mastermister with the :ud: in his signature when in good spirits, so nearly all day round :clown: )

Find this and stuff from amberience, abi and Benedict Rolff-Marsch and older stuff from NAS HERE.

(the link to d-fusions groove template on the site was down for a short while, but works again now).

Maybe it makes some sense to write the most basic stuff about possible first problems with the beta-testing in the FAQ-thread. I can always delete stuff that's not longer of any use later.

So Jens already answered this one (page 6 of "xt2 is here!"-thread:

HOW TO REGISTER XT2 BETA...

in xt 1 there was a right-click-in-the-main-window possibility. You had to locate the reg-file and you were ready to go.

In the first beta of XT2 it's even easier: you simply put the massiva - key - file into the same folder where you installed your beta-exe. Done!

edit, 1 day later, as there is now another thread about the subject: it has to be the "massiva"-key you received when buying EnergyXT1.

and here are some FIRST pointers, taken directly from the great guys of the beta-forum, .jon and the others. As there is no "sticky" possibility yet in the beta forum, the beginner's-thread is a bit lost whenenver 10 new threads are opened, so I simply repeat it here and add a bit to it. As things change, I'll delete the content of this post. For now it might save you some "am I blind or what"-minutes :hihi:. All of this stuff and much more is of course explained in the beta-forum.

1 massiva. key is already explained above :) since a few days. This is the right key, and put it into your new EXT2-folder, this has changed compared to EXT1.

2) VSTs can be added by dragging, but there is no visual indication when doing so. Click and drag from the browser on to the comp window.
To play a VST in the modular window via your midi-keyboard, go to the Midi-in above and right-click there. From there you can choose the VSTi you loaded before by clicking. The line- or "cable"-drawing from XT1 doesn't work in the earliest beta, will come later.

3 It looks as if the only kind of part editing we can currently do in this release is in-track editing.

4 There is no external editing window as far as we can tell.

5 Click the little magnifying glass on the top-right of the browser pane to view an A-Z sorted list of your plugins. :)

6 While I was looping 4 audiotracks, I clicked on the magnifying glass and it went unresponsive while still playing. Had to force close. (so be careful with it at this very early stage). Jens explained that, I think: if you click the magnifying glass and do not type anything in you search for - then EXT2-beta1 tries to find all files that may match - and thus has to search your whole harddrive...so avoid doing this :)

7 this one's from jorgen: F7 turns channel strip on/off

8 XT2 doesn't remember up to now the last saved folder. So for example if you don't only beta-test but work on important projects (not exactly what earliest betas might be for, though :hihi: ) remember you'll have to import the wav-samples manually at your next start.

9 In the SETUP - part you can now decide which shortcuts you like best yourself - simply go to the "action" - button on the right and look for yourself :)

10 Caleb's thread about his first tutorials (at the moment the browser, docking and the new timestretching is explained, including the bugs in this early beta!) is to be found HERE . Watch Caleb's thread, he is adding new stuff there. For example, he's just working on a tutorial about the new mixer :) !

As you can already see in Caleb's thread "List of energy eXTra XT2 tutorials here" here is now the direct link to the overview-page:

Hiya,

this is more for the moderators: as EXT2 is going on well now, it might be better to "unsticky" :) this EnergyXT1-FAQ and TIPS now?

Maybe if someone still needed it we could leave a link to Asseca's EnergyXT-page here, but then I think Asseca's website is this well-known around here that even that wouldn't strictly be necessary?

Cheerio,

Georg.

will do right now - thanks Georg! :-D

TBH i thought this was a great sticky?

needed a bit of a clean up, maybe the good posts could go to a consolidated sticky,

XT1 is still a most powerful tool & comes free with XT2 :hihi:

we could add the direct links to the 'beginners start here'-announcement-sticky - would that suffice? :-)
