This thing frickin' owns!!! I am as giddy as a school girl about this synth. For once I feel completely satisfied with my equipment (a feeling that might last for more than a week this time).

I can't believe how easy it is to make awe inspiring sounds from scratch, originally I though it would just be a preset machine but boy was I wrong. Sure, most parameters cannot be controlled with MIDI CCs and tweaking the parameters can produce "zippery" sounds but I knew that before I bough it and I know that there are ways I can work around these issues.

I would strongly recommend this synth to anyone who wants to make truly tripped out sounds. Totally worth the $1100 dollars I paid!

Congrats on the new toy, that sounds so fun! Post some mp3's of your late-night noodlings!

Are you loading it up with your own .wav's yet?

If so, let us hear the source wav and then the v-synth . . .

Is it the V-Synth or V-Synth GT? Both look interesting, but I was wondering if the GT could do everything the original V-Synth could do (including the D-50 "emulation").

Post

I got the original due to the fact that there are more "dedicated" controllers and oh yeah, it's $1500 dollars more. I know the GT has the Vocal Designer built into it but I don't think it has the D-50. I plan on buying the expansion cards but I do still have rent to pay. I will be posting some stuff as soon as possible. I'm working on loading my own drum loops right now but first, I have to finish a mix for a client.

Here is an equation for you :D:
The V-synth GT = 2*(Regular V-synth) + vocal designer + AP synthesis.
So no D-50 card preinstalled, and it seems that you can't even get the card installed if you buy it separately. The GT has no card reader the last time I checked.

Here are some samples sounds I made today.

hardestcore1
hardestcore2
hardestcore3
hardestcore4
amen brother
creeping weirdness

The first four came from a loop I ceated with my Electribe, the fifth started out as the Amen break, and the last is a synth patch I created with the VA oscillators. The last one had no manual knob twiddling it's all just internal modulation.

i would love to get me a v-synth :(

i've read the feature list and listened to some demo's, but i have't actually been able to physically demo one.

i've also been demoing Krishna, DM's new one. Can anyone comment on the differences/similarities between Krishna and V-Synth...keep in mind that i wouldn't be using them as traditional synth sound generators, i'd be using my own sounds and using them as sample manglers.

thanks! :)

I have reposted the files. Everything should work now.

xt, not gt
and it's a rack with a mic preamp and guitar input, a few knobs and big screen, much more studio toy, while the original is really a performance instrument(ie, it has a keyboard and many knobs)
i'd have both if i could afford it
edit sorry i hadnt see the gt yet, so now i still want both of them, xt and gt

IMHO The V synth is the most powerful and creative synth of all time.

(please don't feel free to debate as I know a lot of people will disagree. I just have never felt such power with such and amazing user interface ever.)

It is certainly a very powerful and flexible synth. It has also become my go to sampler which I wasn't prepared for. I think that if I could only own two synths they would be an Andromeda A6 and this one.
