Have gotten our dirty mits on free sample libraries, instruments, and software and I'm a victim. Though I know all the samples I have are royalty and cover recognition free, I'm concerned about the one shot sample libraries I have (not the loops). I know using free libraries are always a risk, but if they're used in compilations, should I be ok? I have like thousands of samples of orchestra, band ect one shot no loops.
The other question I have is with about interviews and they ask what you use, and you say "X". Sounds like that could send a red flag to developer.

If you want to get away with using illegally downloaded stuff here's a good tip:
DON'T MENTION IT ON A FORUM FULL OF SAMPLE PRODUCERS & DEVELOPERS.
So you're saying you have sample libraries you've downloaded (EWQLS for instance) and you're wondering if you'd be found out if you used them in a successful project, is that right? In all honesty I think you'd be fine, even if the developer aproached you asking after an endorsement or somesuch ()... So long as you didn't open your big mouth and own up to it. I think if you got to the stage where people cared whether your productions were legit is the point at which you'd be thinking about stopping using illegit samples/software.
If on the other hand you're talking about sampling one-shots or snippets from CDs/records and using them, no one is likely to recognise the sources or even care about you using them, so I wouldn't worry about that.

Well.
English is not my first language (not even the 2nd),but what I can understand from this guy's first post in this thread he means that he is afraid that some samples in free libraries may be taken from commercial libraries and/or hardware synths/samplers.

Ok, lets give'im a dunking. If he floats he's a warez user, if he sinks he's clean.
Really, where someone gets their samples from is none of my concern. Sorry if I'm misreading your post, XTREEMMAK.

i've acquired many free samples from various web sites. i have no idea if they're original or what the usage allowance is
i strip samples from demos and products i "own". am i breakin the law?
