Has anybody tried out this UK ebay shop yet?
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Circuit-Bendin ... lectronics
Much cheaper than Maplins
Ordered some stuff from them yesterday (toggles, push-buttom switches, pots, knobs), so will report back on the quality soon.
Currently messing with a casio with the same layout as an SA-2, so will be easy to bend (following Ghazla's book), if not special.
But got another to output screeeeeetching noise like a mofo'!! got a trigger switch for it, just awaiting a pot to see if I can control the frequency

is there an elegant way to connect 12 wires together without creating a soldering-iron cannonball?

kinda depends on what the wires are for but you could use a terminal block, terminal strip, 'universal' prototype pc board or a bunch of ring terminals and a bolt, or a...waiting man wrote:nice ebay shop, thanx!

I have to convoy those 12 to 1.
if I got it right the ring terminal should be ok.

OK...you won't believe it, but this is the first time I have heard of circuit bending! Just happened on an ad about selling some sound toys for circuit bending and went" what the heck is that? " Today I just bought my first thing i'm gonna experiemnt on( $2.00 at a flea market) a "true you" electronic talking game, with 500 words. It has see thru electronics....so I sure I can bend the heck out of it.It looks pretty alien too.
At first I went to radio shack for some supplies, but after he rang up the price, I left the whole thing there..Radio shack is NOT the place to go. That bentronic.com seems to have great prices ( athough somewhat hi shipping charge)but have to say WAY BETTER then Radio shack
I am still going thru this page, but would love to see some recent Circiut bent stuff from KvRers>
and ..has there ever been a circuit bent VST? I suppose one could be built by having a few buttons and knobs on the gui that does random type things when using them, so it acts like a circuit bent device. maybe even using samples from circuit bent stuff. very plausable.
actually..maybe stupid Q: I wonder if it's legal to sample the stuff on YouTube..lots of circiut bent examples there.

Radio Shack is good when you need something today. You can always find better prices online, but when you're up to your elbows in a project and suddenly find yourself a toggle short, or running out of solder, there's nothing like a Radio Shack 15 minutes up the road.tconrardy wrote:Radio shack is NOT the place to go. In addition to cost, Radio Shack also fails in the knowledge department. Asking your average Radio Shack employee about anything component related is going to result in a really blank stare and some fascinating (though rarely accurate) answers. Its always best to research ahead of time before even going out to buy anything.

The appeal of 'bending is that you -cannot- get the exact same result twice. It's a very live artform in that things die, things malfunction and that's the way things are meant to be. A circuit bent VST would go against the very nature of the beast.
Gross.
