Standalone ASIO for Angelina and Rhino etc?

I play my PC like a hard synth (along with them). Means I can't stand latency :-) Any chance of releases of Angelina etc. that use ASIO in standalone mode? I'm very interested in Rhino but have held off because of this issue (bought Angelina and use it in a very paddy way so timing isn't as critical, though I wish it was tighter in standalone mode). Thanks

My view on this:

The standalone versions were mainly intended as "quick test" versions. I didn't expect people to use them for real-life situations. This said, you're not the first user to ask for this, so I guess there's a real need here... So, yes, I'll start working on that. But I won't commit on a deadline just yet, so in the meantime, what about using the plugin version is one of the various standalone hosts out there ?

Alternatively, wouldn't you guys prefer me to come up with a simple ASIO vst loader (like a mini Chainer) ?

I own V-Stack but still, on my 2.5ghz 1gRAM XP box with a m-audio 2496 card, the latency using V-Stack with just one VSTi is to me untolerable for playing live. Perhaps a new sound card would help me out?

Are there others anyone can recommend (VST hosts) that might have better performance?

If you made a mini chainer, as long as the latency is low, that sounds great! :-)

Are you sure V-Stack is using the Audiophile ASIO driver? I remember Cubase was driving me nuts until I noticed that it defaults to its own driver. As soon as I selected the proper driver, ASIO latency went away.

Yep I'm sure. I've tried them all :-(

That's what its set to (64 samples). And when playing outside V-Stack its johnny on the spot timing perfect. In V-Stack, however, no such luck. Its not terrible (.5 sec) or anything, but its slow enough that playing it along with hard synths has a terribly noticeable delay. Thanks BTW for all your help. Keep the ideas coming :-)

Yes on latest driver.

Loaded the chainer demo. Works like a charm. No noticeable latency at all with several plugins loaded.

Anyone want to buy a slightly used license of V-Stack? :?

V-Stack is a nice concept though, as a virtual mixer with nice channel strip with insert efx and masters, as well as eq, but the latency killed it for me I guess.

Looks like I'll be shelling out another $60 for chainer. Thanks muchly ttoz!

Well, I was playing with V-Stack a little more and noticed that the master efx send was enabled (by default) even when no master efx vst was loaded. I bypassed it and what do you know!?!? Latency disappears! Yes I'll definitely be sending Steinberg a support message on that one. Thanks again all looks like I'll be (somewhat) happy with V-Stack after all

... and that you don't need anything changed in Rhino standalone after all :-) Cool...

True enough! I may be asking for it as a Bday present but soon enough!

ASIO standalone would be REAL nice Tick (but not 44.1 restricted like Rene's stuff  )
