It has been brought up more than once before.

I'd agree it's much more than coincidence too (as did the SynthMaker developers - there's stuff buried here in the thread mentioned above and on their forums on the subject). Anyhoo, I can't comment on the architecture of asio.dll and whether it's a wrapper or proxy of some sort but Jorgen did try various tweaks to it back in May 2005 which ultimately didn't fix things but certainly made some differences (not always good ones).DarkStar wrote:This seems much more than coincidence to me.ik_ik_ik wrote:Hey john, AFAIK Jorgen developed the ASIO implementation (asio.dll) himself and made it freely available - coincedentally the SynthMaker developers confirmed they used it and for me this and had exactly the same GUI and glitching problems with an Echo Indigo whereas nothing else did.
Is asio.dll a "real" ASIO driver, or does act as an interface between eXT1 and the ASIO driver?
PS Where is the equivalent in XT2?
For the curious the source code is still here I discovered after digging up one of the numerous old threads.
Not sure about the XT2 equivalent although libaam.dll as Jens mentioned contains identical strings to asio.dll with reference to ASIO and buffers (it'd pure speculation that it's the same code).
I've been quietly hoping things have changed under the bonnet rather than go over old ground but I just haven't done much testing with XT2 yet for a number of reasons. It does worry me now that people are talking about the same old problems yet again.

Instead of ranting we should thank Jörgen for the built in glitch-FX, and just ask for an extra knob on the GUI allowing to control the glitching frequency or randomisation profile
Glitch music is really trendy these days.

Not really ranting when XT just hasn't been a viable live performance tool due to issues people have had that go back several years - it's frustrating to have to turn to other tools on the road knowing that XT should be on the screen raising eyebrows rather than stuck at home hoping it doesn't glitch at the wrong moment! I'm sure I speak for quite a few people in saying I've learned to work around its performance problems since it's so spectacularly good at being inspirational in other ways. All being well it will continue to be so and hopefully more so!monsterbeetle wrote:Instead of ranting we should thank Jörgen for the built in glitch-FX, and just ask for an extra knob on the GUI allowing to control the glitching frequency or randomisation profile

tbh i think this IS the problem that needs to be tackled. this has been energy XT's achilles heel since ive been using 1.x which is going on a year and a half. it doesnt matter when i use windows or linux, gui movement cause cpu rise. XLN addictive drums crackles like rice crispies when im recording and editing midi (while playing)and a bunch of others. sometimes it crackles when i record audio which i think is related to the drawing of the wave. if this were fixed by june 15 i would pay 79 dollars for XT2. no doubt in my ind, even IF im entitled to it for free for being a 1.x purchaser
i am me and i am free...k thx bai

Goes back to early 2004 on my radar. I've been on a journey through time today - back to the mists of v1.24 I think it was - and been wondering how many tracks I've made with XT since then tooAllenPOPO wrote:tbh i think this IS the problem that needs to be tackled. this has been energy XT's achilles heel since ive been using 1.x which is going on a year and a half.

I tried: 2 Midi Tracks with the Zebra Demo, 1 Track Shortcircuit free plus 1 track DK+ Drums. No Problems at all. I can open and drag around all the windows and select notes, move them, copy+paste without any effect on the sound that is playing.spritex wrote:Just make, say, two MIDI tracks with Zebra VSTi on each, record some notes and try to select them with mouse dragging. While the sequencer is playing, of course.druid wrote:spritex: You say eXT2 glitches easily with 2048 samples, low CPU load and plenty of RAM left. Can you give me an easily reproducable way to do this?
You can use the Zebra demo if you don't have it.

(It also happens with Shortcircuit, haven't experimented with many different plugins because these are my main tools.)
I'm using standard setup (but also changed the buffer size to 2048 samples) with an asio4all driver or a phase26 asio driver. Toshiba Laptop: Centrino 1,5 Ghz, 752 MB Ram.

I was just trying to ease the tension around this glitching story, but yeah, I'm really hoping that will be sorted out soon as I just shelled out 50 euros for my brand new license, and ready to ditch windows altogether if only XT2 could allow me a glitch free experience
Damn I just need Jorgen to make an official statement here, this whole glitch story is really getting too steinbergish to my taste.
Edit : I can't get the quoting mode to work right, would it be because I'm running firefox?
