I understand that the new Intel Macs can run Windows XP as well as OSX. Is there anyone here who has been doing this who can tell me what the stability of Windows audio apps is on the new Intel Mac Pros? I'm thinking of switching at the moment, looking at a 2Xquad core system (mostly to be able to run the Adobe CS3 suite without having to install Vista to get around the RAM limit on my PC).

The only Windows-only apps I need to run are Audio Mulch and CrusherX-Live.

Sorry if this is a little vague, and thanks in advance. I know NOTHING about the Mac for audio applications, so any information will be helpful.

RAM is cheap, much cheaper than getting a Mac to run Windows apps.

I've tried Reaper out on my MacBook's Windows partition and it worked pretty well - 32 audio tracks and a whole bunch of VSTs. All other Windows non-music applications function just as if they were running on a PC. No problems so far.

But don't get a Mac unless you want to use Mac specefic software - Logic Pro or Digital Performer. There's absolutely no advantage to using a Mac for music as opposed to a PC these days.

Save cash - buy more RAM
