Alternatives to the presonus firebox?2007-06-08T15:38:49+00:00I'm gettin rid of my xstation so i need an interface but one with more than two ins!I had a firebox previous but had to return it due to the incompatibility issues but it was perfect for me.I have a coupla synths i want to use live but i need a compact interface that i can plug them into(with good quality pres)!Don't need midi, just good ins/outs,portability,good performance and stable drivers.I'd prefer usb but if firewire is the better option so be it,just not keen on carrying round a power supply and the restrictions of cable length.
Budget is £200 but can go higher
If you need more info let me know,thanks.musikmachinehttps://www.kvraudio.com/forum/memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=122199

Would you be able to stretch to £370 ??? If so, you can't go wrong with a Focusrite Saffire Pro 10 i/o. I recently brought one and like yourself, also previously owned a Presonus firebox but needed to expand (and finally ditch the Mackie mixer).
It has 8 stunning pre amps, 8 stereo line in/outs, midi in and out (I know you say you don't need them but you just never know when they might come in handy!!),Spdif in and out and great software.
Its firewire but can be bus powered (ie from your pc or mac).
Truly excellent pro quality. IMO, save a little extra!!
Regards,
Michael.
Absolutely superb sound quality,it's like i've got a new set of synths or they've been upgraded. Can't believe how much of the sound i've been missing out on with other audio interfaces
I was going to post this earlier but anyone reading this if you thinking getting a new interface check out the focusrite saffire range.Excellent sound quality and superb effects!
Thanks Mikelo
