donnie really makes awesome sounding samples - i'm owner of his venus harp, celesta and crotales. and i know london orcestral percussion + his download flute set sound really really good too.
but i do hope the library will be distributed by big fish or someone else who's a professional in that area, or that donnie's improved on that area. i know there are people who don't trust him anymore since at some point he had problems with marketing and apparently promised too much (sold samplesets that didn't exist / weren't finished yet, and never delivered them, plus apparently had some problems with some of the download sales in the end). i personally never had any problems with him and he was really nice and polite to me, but i remember there were angry threads even here two years ago or so ...

Long angry threads. I was always curious to find out if he ever delivered on his promises, or if there are still people waiting for samples or refunds. I was surprised to see his name mentioned here again.

well, he DID develop the london orchestral percussion for big fish even before that catastrophe, and it seems that he's now sold rights to his all samples to them. he's a brilliant sample dev (and apparently a nice guy) but like i said, judging by the things that happened two years ago, he should probably let someone else do the marketing & customer relations part.
"lease note that as of May 5, 2007 Donnie Christian Studios has sold the rights all of it's sounds to Big Fish Audio. This decision was based on desire to put these sounds into the consumers hands in a professionally packaged library.
Big Fish Audio has an excellent name in the industry and has always been a leader among providing the best content in all genres. Personally I have had a positive working relationship with BFA since 2001 when I produced the "London Series" for them.
Please contact Big Fish Audio for more information regarding the release dates of these libraries."

NS is known to be extremely moderated nowadays. apparently they delete posts that 1) advertise something if the advertiser hasn't paid the forum 2) criticize the moderators or the advertisers heavily 3) speak about other things that are Not To Be Spoken Of
apparently after the moderation got stricter and some people got booted off for speaking too straight, some of the people landed at vi-control / sanctus angelis forums... and as a result, every link to that forum (or mentioning its name) is automatically censored at northernsounds. unless something has changed recently. (and no, i wasn't one of the people who got banned, nor do i have any personal interests in either forum)
and i thought adults could behave themselves...

You are right, it is overmoderated. And the site owner DOES have an agenda.
Still it has some good people left with a lot of useful advice.
If you can tolerate the hero-worship from the Ga**itan fanboys.

I never liked NS.
And I thought that DC should have been given the benefit of the doubt. He was in over his head, it was obvious to everybody, but he deserved a fair shake, in my opinion. He did owe money and apologies, but I never got the impression that he was scamming folks. The wild and woolly Internet nearly did him in, and it's good to hear that he's offloaded some responsibility to those who can handle it. Also good to hear that he's continuing his passion.

Well, from my perspective, there were plenty folks complaining of poor service in concert with people praising DC of great service and great products. There also were plenty of people who were just tossing gas onto the fire without having had any dealings with DC personally. DC was, even then, delivering merchandise to folks. The threads over at Big Blue Lounge, then OS X Audio, represent a good example of this. Still, I'm not excusing any of DC's questionable behavior. It just didn't make sense to me that a person and a business, DC, that was as transparent as it was could also be seen as a scam. DC didn't have the resources to hide anything, and he didn't seem to be trying to hide anything, or get away with anything. He obviously needed professional managerial help -- regardless of how many times he shot himself in his own feet.ugo wrote:i remember those threads. the internet did no such thing, donnie did it all to himself. The wild and woolly Internet nearly did him in,
I paid attention to those who seemed to have legitimate complaints, and to those who seemed to be offering praise based on personal dealings with DC. Looking at the situation that way brought into focus that DC was just like any other software/hardware/audio company. Apple, Dell, NI, EastWest, etc. They all experience periods when delivery schedules go of course, faulty products, failure to deliver altogether, product activation failures, etc. The difference is that those companies have the infrastructure to deal with the problems and to control PR. DC clearly did not benefit from such organization. At that time it was a one man, possibly two man, operation with huge popularity as far as the product was concerned. If the product wasn't worth it to begin with, then we'd never have experienced the resulting controversy. Anyway, I just thought that DC needed to be cut a little slack, and that he needed serious help.
