Tannoy Limpets? I did a fair amount of searching and I can't find info on these (I'm at work so maybe the network is blocking?). Are they new?Braindrop wrote:Controller: Roland RD-700SX

I still think, your punctuation sucks, and your spelling isn't cool! So there...

I have two computers, but I pretty much just use my laptop (at the top of the picture) now that I have a "proper" audio interface (instead of onboard sound).
Computer tower: Athlon64 3200+, 2gb 2-2-2-7 OCZ ram, RAID of some variety, M-Audio Delta44.
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 9400, Core2 Duo 7200, 2gb Corsair Select RAM, using the Tascam US-144.
Software: EnergyXT, Audition 2, the Ohm Force range of effects, z3ta+, Whitenoise Additive, Vember Shortcircuit, Revitar 2, free VSTs which are too numerous to name. Probably a couple I'm missing.
Obviously, it is very much a personal hobbie and entirely software driven setup.

Ahh that looks more in my league druid. Heh. It's nice to see what other peoples home setups look like. I'll try to get pics up here when I get a chance. I wanted a corner unit like that too at first. looks nice. My KRK's wouldn't be too happy placed in the corner though.
How does your laptop compair to the AMD setup in terms of performance. It's cool you that you listed some specs on each... Cant mess with the ram timings/bios on the laptop huh?
Muzik 4 machines, that's quite a list. I'd be inetrested in hearing some of your stuff. Maybe some software based using stuff like Reason and then some hardware based. That would be interesting.

Sheesh, Muzik 4 Machines; That's a long list. Not surprising considering you play Guitar. I haven't done one of these lists before so I'll have a go. I have about 7 computers and hardware to go in every one of them that I've built up over 6-7 years, I'll just mention the one I'm using now (my new beast that I spent a fortune on) otherwise I'll be here forever:
Software:
FL Studio 7.02 XXL (the best DAW/host around for Electro music IMO),
Cubase 3 SX (I never ever use it but I have the full version, dongle and all),
Lots of VSTs (Waves bundles, V-station, Z3TA+, ImpOSCar, almost every single NI VST [Prophet 53: nice], every freebie I can lay my hands on)
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit OS (I'm still using it on a "trial basis" at the moment and it seems to be pretty solid, it's just the soundcard drivers that are unstable).
Hardware:
Asus K8N-DL mobo,
2 x AMD Opteron Dual-core 2Ghz CPUs (Quadcore),
4GB DDR400 SDRAM (server RAM),
BFG Geforce 8800GTX GPU
500GB (7200rpm) Seagate barracuda HDD,
600-watt Coolermaster iGreen PSU,
Coolermaster CM52 stacker case,
Behringer Truth B2031A Monitors
E-MU 1820m soundcard
CME UF7 MIDI keyboard/controller.
2 x Samson CO1 condensor microphones
Behringer tube preamp
32-Inch LCD Flat-screen TV
Instruments:
7 Guitars; from vintage Washburns, to cheap and nasty ones, to custom-built ones
1 (cheapass) Bass Guitar,
2 Drumkits (Sabian hats, Remo skins),
Lots of children's instruments, child-size custom acoustic guitar, tambourines, bongos, triangles - I have a 4 year old brother and he's a little musician
It's quite hard to photograph the whole thing seeing as the TV is 32 inch, but here it is (sorry about the small pic [and the darkness, it's never sunny here in England], but I'm uploading 200mb of songs elsewhere and imageshack keeps giving me the 404 error):
My Studio:

My Baby:

My setup is also entirely based on software, except for the MIDI keyboard and various instruments that we sometimes play or sample. We mostly produce Electronica so this isn't really much of a surprise considering the technology nowadays. We do occasionally play Guitars and I use my drumkit for sampling, so some of my beats sound authentic even though they're programmed. I can drum, but I don't have all the overheads, so that's my workaround.
If you wanna hear my stuff click on the logo in my sig and it'll take you to my myspace page. Enjoy...
Peace,

My home setup in spare room is:
Yamaha NS-10m's for main monitoring
MAudio Sub bass just tickling the low frequencies
Echo Audiofire 12 sound card
Crappy old mixer for monitoring and glorified volume knob
Virus Ti synth
Yamaha CS-30 analog monster
Yamaha CS-5 analog 1 osc synth, great for snappy bass
Ensoniq Esq-1 analog/digital hybrid
Crumar Multiman analog
Akai AX73 nasty but cool hard sounding analog
Korg Monopoly analog monster
Studio Electronics SE-1X (moog copy in a rack)
Studio Electronics SE-1 " "
Emu Esi-2000 Sampler for downsampling beats
Akai S-950 Sampler for 12-bit beats
Korg Dw-8000 analog/digital hybrid synth (not really used)
Small stone phaser analog
Home made Equinox dual stereo phaser analog
Presonus Tube pre amp (just used to amp the Crumar Multiman)
Berhinger patch bay (the only Behringer thing worth owing other than the awesome convolution reverb thing they did)
Novation Remote 61Sl controller
Akai MPD16 drum pad controller
Atari ST1040 running Notator (yes I still use it he he, great midi timing)
Dual Conroe E6300 1.8ghz overclocked at 2.8 ghz
Passive water cooling Zalman Reserator 2
4gb ram
4 x Uad-1's
Cubase 4
Kontakt 2
That's it really, I'll put some photo's up tomorrow
To all those that think they don't have much kit. I was more productive when all I had was an Atari ST1040, Esi-32 sampler, Esq-1 synth and a Zoom fx unit lol.
Restrictions can be inspirational.
