What are your predictions for NAMM this summer?

I think it could be a monster event, with new stuff from Steinberg, Native Instruments, Arturia, Propellerheads, Ableton, Cakewalk..........................

AND last but certainly not least, maybe we will see that new DAW made by the company with the name of a popular fruit.

Post

If they don't announce/release da' Eight, I think at least 100,000 people's heads are going to explode...

The ones of us left alive will have to endure some *seriously* ranty posts from Putte...

I didn't even know Orange made a DAW!

:hihi: :P

My prediction is as follows: We will all rant on in this thread making predictions of monsterous proportions, just to start a new thread after it's all over entitled "Dissapointment With Summer NAMM 2007." That's been the course for the last few shows IIRC.

I have no predictions. Isn't Summer NAMM usually quiet on the new stuff front, where Winter NAMM is usually more bustling with announcements? Or do I have that backwards?

Here's not a prediction, but I wonder what the fine folks at FXPansion are up to. Just what was Orca a preview of? I once overheard a vague whisper about something referred to only as Caravan, what was it, when is it coming, is it the thing related to Orca?

Discuss.

Well, I'm afraid that for us mere musos, Namm will be worth as much as todays WWDC. Nothing, that is.
And yes, I'll gladly line up with Putte.

My prediction : it's going to be HOT!!!!! Texas in July????? WTF were they thinking?

BTW, the summer show is mostly guitars and band instruments You can generally expect Pro Audio products to be released between Fall AES and Winter NAMM.
Your penis is a weapon. protect it and keep it dry.

Maybe they might introduce Garageband for Windows - thats surely the reason why Logic is taking so long

(I can already picture Logic Pro users cussing out Apple for wasting time on consumer products, but Steinberg also did it with Sequel).

BTW, for anyone that doesn't know: Safari is now available for Windows; its only "logical" that Garageband follows.

I'm excited.

I hope that the last six months of weird Line6 behavior means either a Vetta III, or a new upgrade.

Spectrasonics may be there, and maybe Eric finally hass something new in the bag.

Cubase 4's big update may be revealed along with the next version of nuendo.

Universal audio migh (i really doubt it) say something about a more powerfull dsp solution for the powered plugs.

Or Logic 8 for Windows? :-o :hihi:

I suppose if Logic would be still a pure German Emagic product, it would be at V9 already and would rule the market on both platforms.

Given that Garageband pretty much is a stripped down Logic Pro both wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm sure it would scare the living daylights out of Cakewalk & Steinberg though.

Selling hardware is stll Apples main interest, so all the x-platform applications you may see from them will only be teasers or support stuff for their hardware (iPods and soon iPhones).
Btw, I've just seen the WWDC keynote and I am majorly embarrassed. I've never seen a lousier product presentation.

Also, should make you think why one of the Top 10 points (which is what Jobs showed) of a new OS (!) would be that the ability to run another OS. Why, if the new OSX is such a superior OS, would anyone make a big deal out of that? Because they know they're still not on par with Windows regarding a whole lot of aspects. Otherwise there wouldn't be a need for Bootcamp.

In addition, the keynote contained quite some further bullshit, such as the presentation of stacked folders, their existance mainly being explained by "oh yes, we all know how much your desktop is messing up with all those downloads". Does that mean Apple users are too f**king stupid to download to any other more sensible location than their desktop? The last time I downloaded something to the desktop was like 10 years ago or so.
Oh yes, and there's gonna be more games for OSX now. Right, exactly what I've always dreamt of.

In the end: Stupid gizmos for people being too stupid to deal with computers or to chose the proper computer in the first place (I mean, if you're a game head, you wouldn't buy a Mac anyways).
