just by opening XT2 how much cpu is chewed up?
pls read the value in the task manager in the process tab (not the performance tab) and just look up the cpu usage specifc to energyxt2.exe process.
mine oscillates between 6 and 10%....usually mostly stayin at 9%.
this on a 1.86 ghz centrino.
with 1gb of ram
asio4all
xt1.41 (with a sequencer added to equal the xt2default) on the same machine oscillates between 0% and 2%....mostly stayn at 0% (like i believe a sequencer should do when it's idle)

XT2 is at 0% and very occasionally hits 2% on my system.
This is freshly opened with an inactive sequencer sitting in it.
The Memory usage is 31,692K though. I didn't realise it took up so much memory.

It spikes just when opens, arriving to 60% or something just for a moment. I don't know if that's usual.

1-2% 27MB of RAM are the numbers for XT2.That's curious in the graphics it seems to spike just in one CPU (not real because uses hiperthreading)

2% CPU usage with 'New Sequencer' project.
~30.224 KB Mem Usage immediatly after startup.
Interesting observation comes now:
If I minimize XT2 now -> Mem Usage goes down to ~1.352 KB (!!!!!)
If I maximize it then again -> Mem Usage goes up to ~4.332 KB (!!)
Hmmm, just checked this behaviour with other programs.
Seems they behave all in a similar way, so nothing special here with XT2.

i should do a clean windows install one of these days, just as soon as my external 320gig hard drive arrives so i can back-up all this junk!

On a 2.5 GHz Celeron - 2G of memory (not my music computer) - ranges from 15 - 25 percent.
Edited to add... I just read the above post - a 1.5 GHz Celeron with 512 MB is using the same CPU percent as a 2.5 GHz Celeron and 2 Gigabytes of RAM.

For those of you getting high idling rates, it is most probably because of ASIO4ALL. Can XT2 use a DX driver?

Adding to what rbet said.... ASIO4ALL plus OEM audio cards=poor audio performance. And it compounds even more when you have a Celeron CPU. None of which is XT2's fault.

PC is hijacked by my wife but on my Toshiba Satellite laptop (XP Home SP2, 1.73GHz 512 MB, ASIO4ALL) it's 0% with now and then a flickering 2%, but a memory use of 28.924 kb.*
* edit/ after minimize-maximize window it's back to 3.768 kb
