We also purchased www.manybass.com and Greg and I plan on having tutorials and videos here to help show you guys how tracks like these are made with ManyBass.
It will take us some time to get the website working, but expect some very cool things there.
The Pre-Purchase Sale price is still available, so grab your ManyBass while the price is insane.

FYI Vonbrucken, I just received back the (hopefully) final update to HeavenBound. Hopefully this will be it.

Now you owe me one for taking the thread off topic
Bump for the ManyBass special. If you have not checked this one out yet... please take a look. I think it's our best instrument to date. The Pre Purchase price is also still available.

I'm having a blast making these presets for ManyBass. One of the things that I've been doing is listening to famous bass players and mimicking their tone. So you can expect to hear some Victor, Jaco, Marcus, Mark, Louis, Wojtek...
Any suggestions for other bassists I should be sure to check out and model presets after?

You have to stop making awesome synths, god damnit!!!
I have bills to pay, but I know I can trust Pauls quality. One sold.
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

I am missing some simple, old style, straight pop/rock tone. I think that there is a real need of a good bass vsti doing this. The alternatives are far from good, and the manytone demos look good, but at the end of the day what I need and, I think most people do, is not a funk solo bass tone, with lots of solo articulations, just a straight(fender bass?) tone, capable of fitting in any pop tune. THink of U2's bass sound, Radiohead's Airbag or Paranoid Android, something straight, full and smooth. I am missing notes with more than 2 variations (maybe 4??) for confortable 8th notes playing... This is the lack of every sampled based VSTI. For instance, HardcoreBass XP sounds pretty good, but you can't avoid the machine gun effect when playing 8th notes (not mention 16 ths). My opinion. Sorry for my English, Im from Spain.

Heard of all of those guys except for Jonas Hellborg, so looks like I have a little homework to do. Thanks for the suggestions!NorthSouth wrote: How about some: Oteil B, Jonas Hellborg, Billy S, Less C, RedHot Flea, just too name a few.
@Damien: I know what you mean--I realize that most of the demos were solo bass or funk-oriented, but that's just because those are two bass styles which are difficult for synths to sound realistic. But I'll be sure to include plenty of straight tones, designed to work well in pop/rock genres.
