Take a listen to this effect - http://www.towardsomega.com/misc/fx_id.mp3
How do you think it's done? It must be LFO but anything else. It seems the same kind of effect can be done the start of vocals as well.

Id guess hes got the beat layered twice. One is the dry signal, the other has maybe a frequency shifter with a looped parameter or two animated . There might be another granular synthesis plugin being used there as well, granular synthesis is definitely involved . In the background he brings in a bit of reverb now and again.

It sounds like some parameters are being manipulated live ( or using envelopes) on a flange/ring mod fx. I can hear reverb popping up on some of those sweeps as well.

I'd say it's mainly a chorus/delay with a lot of feedback where the delay time is automated.

its not comb filtering but you can get some similar effects with it.
dont think its anything too clever.

Seriously. It's a delay with feedback with automated delay time (which is basically the same as a chorus with heavy feedback and odd delay time modulation
). There's some other automated effects going on too (like reverb from time to time), but the main effect is the delay.

so auto'ed on the time and short feedback (obviously without considering send effects as well).
the main question now is, how the f**k is he so damn good?

I had a feeling it might of been automated chorus delay, I thin I have got it, just need to play a bit more thanks!stefancrs wrote:Seriously. more shpongle fx! or just psydub/psybient or chillout with lots of drugs shall we say.
that awesome use of automated pitch detection/correction on vox usually:
Periscopes of consciousness (nothing lasts), Ott's 'spacebaby' has some Quran readings (i think, pretty sure) doing lots of quirky greatness and Younger bros weird on a monday.
all in a nice little package for you all:

any tips? i find it hard to get those lovely wibbly bits right. Melodyne is perfecto for this

Wow I finally thought up a reason to make popular electronic music:
I'd die laughing at newbies' attempts at reverse-engineering my automated fx playtime.

I'm pretty sure half of them wont even remember what they did themselves. too busy talking to the gnomes gallivanting around the room then pay any attention to the knobs they're twiddling out of confused ethereal bliss

That clip is from one of my favorite shpongle tunes ever. I've taken so many drugs listening to that song.
It's a wonder my brain still works. Have no idea how he did that effect tho.
