Yeah. I'm going to release a new version of the demo in the next couple of days that only outputs one second of silence every thirty seconds.

and it's as crash-prone as the free version when pressing "randomize" in quick succession...(using energyXT and Live)

I wasn't aware of this issue. Could you give any more details (systems specs, type of crash) please?

AMD X2 4600+, XP, energyXT 1.4.1, Live 6.05

I've now hammered on my keyboard like crazy for 10 min while clicking randomize and it didn't crash. Maybe it only happened when some other plug-in was loaded (?). I'll post again in this thread if it happens again.

If i can't get ScannedSynth to crash again i'm sure i'll buy it next month.

Good news about the new demo version! BTW i think you should start a new thread announcing that the Pro version is now available.

I used the randomise in ScannedSynth a lot in the past while developing a skin for it; never had it crash once (FWIW...)

Just tried the new SSmini, you've certainly done something to the bass response John, some really thick, dark tones are possible now. Very cool.

i REALLY like the mini version...

oh, and if i'm not mistaken one can actually edit all parameters by automating the vst parameters via midi cc, right? well, even if, you still don't have any visual feedback whatsoever, so i guess the pro version still has its advantages.

oh, and if this post is seen as offensive i'll edit it immediately.

I thought that too but I think the values are locked; I opened SSMini in vsthost and you can certainly see all the parameters but the only ones you can actually edit are the ones already on the gui...

ah, i see. i thought that might be the case, but i hadn't tried it. don't mind, though - the mini version does what it's supposed to do, that's what counts.

well - after some testing i must say is a really great synth. so "alive" !
if you like scifi sounds / alive sounds / teremin and other retro crazy gadgets + very cinematic and expressive sounds - give it a try / buy !
John deserves your support.

Tried the demo and boggled. Finally a synth that doesn't just automatically drop into some well-known category and venture down some well-trodden path.

Going to give the Mini a whirl here in a sec, but I already feel my credit card wiggling out of my wallet.

one question: i still have the latest setup version of ScannedSynth before splitting in MINI and Pro..am i missing something if i install only the mini, in comparison to the old ScannedSynth?

firs of all let me say i really like this synth and im a proud owner of a Pro version since couple of months, great job john!

but i must admit unfortunately that i had pritty some issues with it crashing, to be honest i havnt been able to use it in a track yet, cause it keeps freezing my soundcard, im pritty sure its the combination of my system plus the scanned synth, im using it on a lenovo laptop with a edirol ua1ex soundcard in cubase3, havent tried it yet on my main desktop workstation, cause i was trying till now to include it in a tune in the works on my lap.


if that could help the fixing of the problem for future versions i describe what happens: im trying to open it in a project were other 2 synths are playing and it freezes when playing various notes (chords) in some sfx patches or when hittin some buttons like turning on and off the effects. it doesnt freeze the pc, im still able to close cubase and reboot normal way, but it freezes the soundcard wich in this case start to do a very loud buzz noise. didnt had any similar issues with other instruments yet on this system.
