How do you make this sound: http://www.speedyshare.com/530512684.html

It's the one that really soft.. not much cut-off..

I have Vanguard.. and all the free synths that are available for windows. ;)

Thanks!

It's just a filtered saw with some delay. Should be the easiest sound in the world to make. Do you know what a filter envelope is? Use it.

I tried that.. but couldn't get it.. i tried again and succeeded..

Try with portamento. ;)

Synth 1 is a good choice. It has portamento and plenty of options for sculpting the sound. A preset resembling the sound you want may already exist, there are quite a few presets available for it.

hi i know what filter is but i don't know what is a filter envelope..
i have vanguard and MASSIVE which has a lot of modulation options but i still don't know what filter envelope..
should i just modulate the filter cutoff with an envelope?

The proper name for ADSR (those are just the labels at the knobs) is "Envelope Generator". And here it's the one that controls the filter cutoff.

i don't understand o_O
i know what ADSR is (attack decay etc..)
and i kow what filter is
but what is a filter envelope?
is this a name for some kind of modulation or this is a name of module in a synthesizer?

yony.z, you have vanguard.. there are two ADSR envelopes, 2 is the filter envelope..

in the filter section turn the cutoff knob down.. on the ADSR 2 you will see another cutoff knop turn that up... now have a slow attack on the filter envelope you should hear a result.

ADSR _IS_ the envelope, just not the proper name. The envelope is controlled by the envelope generator, commonly known as ADSR. An envelope has an outline curve described with attack, decay, sustain, release controls that control each of the envelope stages.

According to Wiki:
Wiki wrote:In music theory, the envelope of a sound is its variation in amplitude over time; in Sound synthesis, envelopes are characterised by the attack, decay, sustain, and release times of the sound.
Most synths have two or more of them. One linked to the VCA that controls the amplitude (volume envelope) and the other for the VCF (the filter.) Some simple synths have only one which is shared between VCA and VCF. So if your synth has more than one

On some synths the envelope generator has more than four stages, so that's why ADSR isn't the proper name.

Now I've had a look at the layout of Vanguard. It has two envelopes and each can drive the VCA (level) VCO pulse width, VCF (filter cutoff) or VCO pitch/detune. Normally 1 is used for level and 2 for cutoff (that's the filter) or something else.

sb.net, most standard subtractive synths have a portamento option, use the one you like most. Vanguard surely has it.

Post

vanguard doesn't have it.. and vanguard can't make that sound.. it has too sharp of a sound..

I tried it in synth1 and got close, but i'll just keep going in some other synths..

accually, lisining closely it sounds a lot like the one I did in ReZ.. I think that the artist used ReZ to make it.. I'm happy with my patch.. :)

I checked Vanguard's screenshot. It should be the "glide" option.
But if you are happy with ReZ, go with ReZ. :tu:
