lol
To summarise :
idle - loaded project = useful information
But only if the hardware / software is the same. Else you are showing results for asio driver performance and background software.

So who's going to make the default test project?
To keep it comparable to XT1 I would think we should prpably use only normal Audio, and free VST's. If we start using stretched audio, the multi effects or samplers, we can't reproduce the same project in XT1.

Would background software affect the idling performance of XT2 though? I thought it would only affect the overall CPU use of your computer?
I agree about the ASIO performance comment though and given that we can get different results just by tweaking our ASIO settings does say something.
Anyway - in the long run I'm not having trouble with the idling performance of XT2 at all - but I may have performance issues with it in a project which I agree is a more important consideration.
Regards
Caleb

hi, for me the issue is closed. after turning off resample 44.1<>48khz in the asio4all config xt2 has gone from using 37 - 44 percent cpu to 0 - 02. this says to me any systems that use too much cpu idle need to look at their asio drivers, perhaps try to configure them to be more cpu freindly.
edit:forgot to mention this is a p111 933 which is way below xt2 minimum recommenadtions
cheers, john

i've asked to post the cpu exclusive to xt2 (in the process window u see this)....so background software is not accounted for.
other sequencers dont use any cpu at all when idle (with any driver) so why is XT2 is usin any ?(and on weaker systems its uses a relevant amount of cpu by just doin nothin....imagin it in operatioN!)
still is to explain why XT2 uses 4 times more CPU than XT1
on same system with same drivers(wherver its 1% for xt1 and 4% for xt2.....it's still 4 times more!)
ps: i've not tried the new 15/6 xt2 yet....gonna try now.

ok the new default XT2 has been changed and its not an empty project anymore....with 4 synths opened the cpu usage has obviously a reason to be.
we need a differenth thread.
actually i just discovered somethin

idle with the synth component loaded for 4 tracks the cpu oscillates from 0-13%.
if i go to the component section and delete the synth component the cpu still the same.
aaaaarghhhh...so nothin changed even with this update.
xt1 with the same system/drivers/settings still 0-2%

PS Been mentioned but when you delete a component, the object is n't deconstructed and not released from Ram.

now i know what ppl meant aboyut gfx problmes....i never had them cos i never really bothered layin down a few tracks...past 60% it gets pritty glitchy...in xt1 never noticed ths.
