Well we can't force people to like it (I wish we could, using some nice Tarantino violence practiced intensely and to the sound of bmanic's tunes...)

:D

I think you need Quicktime installed to see the audio player.

stop being a pita, and try it yourself, dammit

Woah, just listened to that after clip on Dave's blog. Crazy stuff. KleVer, if you didn't like the bmanic stuff, you probably won't like Dave's clip either.

Me, I think it's pretty nifty.

what makes me a pita? does your arse hurt that much?
I'm just wondering why one would destroy a balanced mix like that..

bmanic, I'm sure you wouldn't put that plugin on a whole mix - not processing that heavy at least.
but where would you use it?

the stuff I heard was really unpleasent.. and I'm by no means against distortion in music.

disturb, maybe I can't try right now, eh?!

just wondering.. wondering

KleVeR: There are lots of peeps with very different needs out there, personally I probably would not put it on the entire mix, but for bass, vocals, electric piano or something that I just wanted to get some feeling of "saturation" or "colour" and some nice "effect" compression, I'd absolutely use TBK3, but probably with moderation.

Then there are peeps like Dave, that MAXES the shit out of it everytime he uses it (more or less)..

The world is a wonderful place, and we all live here and have nowhere else to go, so, Peace brother!

And for the rest of you, who don't want that, I hereby promote the SV-315Mk2 ...

It has never been accused for being bad to the sound.

yeah JFN, I think I just got irritated by bmanic's examples.. assuming somehow it's meant to be used like that. it probably would have been better hearing the effect on only one channel (where it fits) of the whole mix and which difference it makes compared to the original mix. some kind of real live situation ;-)
there's sure plenty of use and users for it.
don't take it as an attack on your company ;-)
you have some great products!

peace!

KleVeR:

Thanks, no I dont, just want to try to keep some peace around here, it's just opinions, and it's friday, so who's unhappy..

:D

Cheers all!

JFN: here's a sample for you. Made the drums with Smackbox.
Get the mpc file here, or the wav file if you want to convert to a transient limited format.

OMFGTHISISTHEBESTFRGGINCOMPRESSOREVERJFNIWANTTOBECOMEONEWITHTHISAAAAEEEEEEEIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!

Is this alien technology? Secrets of the Gods??? The Hammer of Mjolnir!?!? :-o Sonalksis has descended once more from their big British factory in the sky to bequeath this gift to us mere mortals, so that we may enlighten our dull, dreary drum buses!
All Hail TBK3!! All Hail TBK3!! Yours is the superior... :hail:

Seriously, this thing is nuts. Instant gratification in the best possible sense; it's like SV-315 on coke. Great f*kin job, JFN and Dave, you keep amazing me. This is a must-have, x10. :D

:D :D :D Thanks!!

Btw, KleVeR, while I will freely admit that I'm very proud of how extreme it gets, if you grab it and try the presets you'll find that it's actually very handy for much milder processing. In particular i'm very pleased with the analogue (you'll know which unit it sounds like when you hear it) transient click you get from Pop mode (check the Smart preset). Slap gives you even more, but it still feels like the old analogue kit I like so much. It's quite deliberately modelled (the dual-domain envelopes thing) to give that proper analogue sound.

But I'm still more proud of how nuts it goes ;)

Dave.

Definitely, I've noticed it's fantastic for "warming things up" and not just for usual or extreme compression. But man, this is the first plugin ever to actually give the ability to go to very extreme crunchy compression without sounding ugly. Speedy J, watch out :).

Totally agree with that, lots of possibilities; "creative" is the correct word that comes to mind.

"Speedy J"?
