Thanks for new version molecule but still not working with .fxp here
Waiting for next version

Post

just a quick try of the new version.i made 3xfxb with xoxos' 'thumper' fine.expect the midi channel button got randomized and therefore i got no sound at first, which confused me.
some great sounds.
a couple of things to make testing easier;
can you make it remember the last visited vst folder?pr at least set a default,
and to make it easier to update, make the program folder just 'vgp' not 'vgp 1.1' etc. then could we just drag and drop the .exe to it?
not too important, but makes testing more easy.
nice idea, thanks for sharing this.you can never have enough random shit,i say. :)

Post

Thanks for the ideas, the new version will have these features !

I am currently working on the Vst loader in order to avoid "opaque chunk method" problems.

Stay tuned :)

Here is finally a new version (0.2.0) which can load directly plug-in when fxp/fxb loading failed !

Image

Normally more plugins are supported (but regrettably not all...).

The change-log:
- Function to Load Vst plug-in and avoid
"Opaque Chunk Method" in Preset File
- Reduce graphic space between parameters
in order to use less space
(thanks Chimimic)
- Remember the last file directory for
opening presets and Vst
(SpaceDad feature)
- Add a progressBar, for waiting while
parameter widgets creation
- No error message when you press "cancel"
button from any Open/Save Dialog Box

http://sourceforge.net/projects/vst-preset-gen

Thanks to all beta-testers ! :)

Thanks molecule!!!!!
I tested it and noticed some improvements from last version but most of plugs still don't work.Program drasticly slows down when vst is opened and paremeters being loaded. When randomized bank is opened within sequencer in most cases nothing happens(oatmeal synth for example)but this could be energyXT2 problem  I think you are doing great progress :tu:
Waiting for next version ;)

Post

yay!thanks for the new features. :)
@selfik-are you sure the presets don't load or just the names don't show?cos i get that a lot in xt1.

Post

Names are not showing also.
I tested with few plugs, oatmeal for example but no luck.
Will try with reaper and xt1 later

Yes it does. And it also names the random patches, which often is pretty funny.

Some of H.G. Fortune's instruments had an interesting implementation of random patch creation, too, where you could randomize specific sections of the synth, not just the whole patch. Can't remember which synth that was, though.

Just about all his recent ones, if memory serves. I have a nice randomizer for Reaktor, but it only works from within Reaktor. The big problem with randomizing VST(i) is unless you have the ability to kill the random command to specific parameters, you're almost always guaranteed to get unsatisfactory results. As far as I'm aware, the only preset randomizer(outside Reaktor) that allows random isolate for parameters is eXT.

Actually eXT is not the only one, cantabile (full version) has very good preset randomization implemented...

Post

i've previously posted this but... before reinventing the wheel
i've you tried these softwares ?
- chainer (excellent "morph" feature between two presets)
- minihost by tobybear (the preset manager + randomizer)
