Well I just got a reply from my email that I sent to Access. I asked when either XP64 or Vista 64 drivers would be ready as they are now my last piecr of hardware that needs a driver before I go 64 bit.

Now I know a lot of you will say stay 32bit, but when the new Cubase 4 update comes out, it will be native 64bit app, and also I would like to use all of the 4gb ram that I installed in my machine instead of 3gb.

But anyhow, the future at some point will be 64 bit Vista for sure :(

Access replied with "At this point we can't tell if and when 64 Bit drivers will be available." which means to my mind that they might support it ot they might not?

I can understand not supporting say Win98 or any older OS but not the main future OS that a lot of Daw users will be upgrading to. So if any Virus Ti users wouldn't mind... now would be a good idea to email access to ask nicely if they are going to be supporting the latest OS.

It was bad enough that they stuck a usb 1 port on the virus (what were they thinking with usb 1 when usb 2 would have had so much more bandwidth).

Other than that I LOVE my Virus Ti, but I also love the intergration with my host sequencer and the sample accurate timing.

Sam, I think this is what you'd call a standard response from an IT company. If they aren't officially working on something, are completely uncertain of the "when" of a release they'll say something conservative. Some companies may be more reckless and just say "yeah we'll do it" or "it'll happen" and then setup a huge expectation. Things like Vista open a whole new can of worms really. I wouldn't personally commit to it yet unless I was certain that there was a significant need to be doing it. Access probably has higher priorities elsewhere.

In my mind I would say that many users are far more interested in newer firmware and other things for the TI and other products.

It's a bit early right now to expect a lot of support for Vista 64bit. I am unsure as to whether or not you're going to see much in the way of performance increase with 4gb of ram either...

And remember, at some point in the future that for old hardware that virtualisation may well be your friend ;)

Agreed on the 4gb not much performance issue, it would just be nice to be able to load up bigger libraries though :)

I'm just worried that my investment will be the item that stops me from going native 64bit with Cubase 4. I work at 88khz most of the time (as I feel vsti's fx and synths sound better at this rate), so I eat into cpu heavily. I'm hoping that a native 64 bit cubase will have the same performance benefits that sonar 64 did over Sonar 32

i'v worked in s/w many years, and this sort of conversion is always chaos. especially where there are lots of collaborators, all having to do a certain part. people just can't get it together enough to develop s/w with a lot of nonsense...(even when all our lives hang in the balance!)...our instruments may be the least of our worries...
overthrow KRAPITALISM ! you have nothing to lose but your claims.
