Hi. I'm looking for another vocal mic to add to my Rode NT1a and Studio Projects B1. The two mics that interest me the most under $400 / £200 are the Audio Technica 4040 and Cad Trion 8000. Which would you recommend as being the best all round vocal mic to compliment my existing setup? I have an M-Audio DMP3 and Studio Projects VTB1 pres.
Thanks
Audio Technica 4040 or CAD Trion 8000 for vocals?

Well, I'm not a fan of AT mics, but lots of folks are. The 4040 isn't as bright a mic as either the Rode or the SP, but it seems like it might be a good idea to get something with more of a different flavor than what you've already got. So, given the choice between the two, I would go for the CAD.
I don't know how well it will pair with the VTB1, though, as that pre is already on the dark side, and I have never heard the DMP3, so...
