Hi
i have discoDSP Discovery V2 plugin which is a emulation of the nord lead 2 and it sounds very similar..
and i know that infected mushroom synthesize all the guitar sounds (except in becoming insane) using their nord lead 2
and the plugin has the exact same interface
so can someone plz tell me how to make the guitar sound?
i'm not looking for a specific guitar sound.. just tell me how to make one and i will play with the knobs until i'll hear something that i like :)

--edit--
allright maybe no one uses nord lead 2 or discovery here
so - how to make a guitar sound using any synth in the world?
or atleast with waveorms, filters etc..

thanks.

thanks but i don't like Slayer cause it's too limited..
i want to synthesize my own guitar sound
but i don't know how :(
well i'll just keep waiting for a mini tutorial :)

Synths are always limited in doing emulations (even when emulating other synths :hihi: )

There are some instruments that are quite difficult to do on this type of synth. Saxophone and guitar are notoriously problematic, since the real instrument can sounds so very different from moment to moment when a real player gets his hands at it.

I haven't heard anything of Infected Mushrooms (wouldn't touch them, yuk!) but the basis of synthesis is as follows: break down a sound into characteristics, and work on them. What's the type of attack? And the sustained tone? Waveform, maybe some noise... Work on it!
We are the KVR collective. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated. Image

I don't know if this helps, because I haven't listened to Infected Mushroom either, but I find a good amplifier effect plug-in can help. I have some OK sounding samples that came with Logic that sound a lot better/truer & have more bite when I put them through a amp plug-in. Perhaps effects can help to shape the sound you want?

Well, good luck! :D

That's good advice. Another thing is vibrato. Guitars
go UP in pitch with bends, never down (whammy excluded). So if you're adding vibrato, make sure the synth isn't going up and down around the note, just UP.

So true, CWoodOne, excellent point! Using the pitch bend to enhance a guitar sample (or any other kind for that matter) can really help too! :)

i almost don't know anything about sound design..
and i really don't know what VIBRATO is
i know what is waveform and all that stuff
but i don't know how to use them to make a specific sound that i'm looking for
so maybe can someone tell me how to make a guitar sound like the following example: sawtooth, -24db low pass, portamento etc..

i know that this is a big request but maybe u can help me

thanks.

Hey Debra1, let's start a heavy guitar band using our keyboards, what do you think? Are you any good at programming drums?

I got some great bass samples from the Scarbee sale the other day and haven't really done much with them yet.

Vibrato is the pitch variation a guitarist gets when bending strings. It's one of the factors that gives guitar it's particular expression.
To sound like a guitar, rather than just a sine wave with harmonics, it's important to listen to what guitars do -- the attacks are fairly fast,
sustain long, and the 6 strings of different widths and tensions act differently even when playing the same notes. So it's harmonically rich,
a little unpreditable, and the sounds of the strings hitting the frets and sometimes each other add to the "guitarishness" of the sound.
I'm not sure that the sonic blue print of the guitar is so much the "waveform" as it is the technique... maybe Debra1 can add to that and clarify? Best of luck!

Are you after heavy metal sounds or more like classic Spanish guitar sound?
And what synths do you have?

Post

For Metal guitar sounds use 2 saw oscillators, oscillator 2 needs to be 5 semi tones higher than oscillator 1.
Then add a lowpass filter with a good amount of resonance, and low frequency.

Play with the filter velocity knob and the filter adsr, and add a Amp sim effect + a little touch of reverb.

To make it sound more crunchy or powerfull use, play 2 notes with 1 note 1 octave higher than the other.

I don't have Discovery so i can't make example presets for you.
