Sonalksis TBK3 Über Compressor !

Sorry I missed the responses to my earlier question, I had near forgot about it.
I totally had the same experience as Shy; I found on electronic kicks, it really seemed to sheer off the lows and would have to be compensated for; mind you, it's hard to find a compressor that has this drastic an attack! I figured it's like most compressors, you're going to notice an increase in high end, but that effect just seemed particularily strong with this plugin.
I'll see if I can rustle up an example.

The TBK3 is so darned pretty I'm tempted to buy it just so I can look at it while I'm working.
I bet Dave loves having the misguided and lost (with VISA) on his customer list.

Exactly the same experience. That's why i tried the 'smart' preset in a new york style compression setup and it's wicked! You can control the attack/click part nicely that way without losing bass power. I vote for a mix button (dry/wet)bduffy wrote:Sorry I missed the responses to my earlier question, I had near forgot about it.

Yeah, this thing p0wns for NY-style, for sure. That was the first thing I tried with it!loopdon wrote:Exactly the same experience. Heh indeed. I very rarely run this one 100% wet. I always mix in a little bit of the original material. I find adding an EQ before or after the compressor, to compensate for the slight loss of bass, no problem at all.
Cheers!

Yeah, no problem either. I just wanted to point it out, wasn't sure if that was a predicted consequence or not.bmanic wrote:Heh indeed. I very rarely run this one 100% wet. It's trivial to add... the question is where (physically) to put it?
Any ideas?
JFN - can we do this?

Alas, mine does not (Cubase haters rejoice!). Actually, it does have excellent dry/wet control...on the Offline Processing dialogue...?smart wrote:Don't most, if not all hosts have a mix for effects?

This has me thinking... about how long it would take to write a VST that hosted a VST and provided, say, ip gain, op gain and wet/dry mix... And whether I could sell it or not... (and then an AU version)
Hmm...
Thoughts?

Holy shit, I've been playing it twice and can't get enough of it... I don't care about the comp you used but this is great !bmanic wrote:Clip with 2xTBK3 on drumbus, first part of song is without TBK3, then at the break they are switched on (it should be quite obvious).
