THOR (6 oscs: Analog, Wavetable, FM, Phase Mod, Multi, Noise)
RPG-8 Arpeggiator
ReGroove Mixer - realtime groove console
Lots of new features in the Sequencer!
etc.

"Rebuilt from the ground up and equipped with a brand new sequencer, a revolutionary groove tool, a stunning arpeggiator and a synth to end all synths"

What do you all think? I'm excited!

I like the new sequencer! It was always something I disliked about the original Reason (and the reason, no pun intended, I sold it...).

Post

Looks like they nicked Jorgen's time signature clips from energyXT 1, too!

It looks like a nice upgrade indeed.

I'm not sure I fully understand the groove mixer. Is it a drum machine ? Or is it groove control for the entire project ?

Definitely lovin this update, can't wait!

It sounds a bit like EnergyXT's groove fx - plug-in to feed the midi parts through.

I can't see EnergyXT on your list there Fots so I'm guessing that explanation meant nothing to you. :hihi:

It sounds a bit like the beat detective from protool where you grab the timing from funky drummer and apply to everything.

Seems kinda funky :D Since, Reason's groove settings were quite impaired in the past. I recall that you could only set swing for ReDrum modules. This is why I loved using Cubase to control Rrason, but with v4, the sequencing is basically complete in Reason.

Not sure if it's just me, but I think that Reason's editing actually is a few steps ahead of Cubase in some respects.

For instance, how AWESOME is it that every part with different contents is automatically assigned a different colour!! That has got to be my favorite feature in Reason's sequencer for sure.

There are surely some massive improvements in the sequencer, to the extent that I think it is the headline feature (however good THOR turns out to be).

Look at the stuff in the new floating tool tab - for example the ability to randomise velocity on a percentage basis. Very nice :D

Aha! I just got the email from P'head inviting me to download the beta version. Looking forward to trying this out, and of course I'll keep y'all posted

umm, effects overhaul? record audio...i am an avid user, but these are kinda a must upgrade?

Post

still can't change the time signature mid-song...

lame...

everything else looks great but that would have sealed the deal for me to upgrade

:-o :bang: but you can do that in cubase as well. I see you have SL 3.1. so why is this problem for you? Just use "Show Track Colors" option. Every new track will be with different color. Though if that is what you mean.

Still no audio recording option or - even more important - the ability to use VST plugins. Another failed chance to make this program really worthwhile.
