There's already a 16-page thread covering all this ground

I think he means a different colour for every grouped midi part, rather than a different colour for every track.kmonkey wrote:soundpalace wrote: Not sure if it's just me, but I think that Reason's editing actually is a few steps ahead of Cubase in some respects.
For instance, how AWESOME is it that every part with different contents is automatically assigned a different colour!! That has got to be my favorite feature in Reason's sequencer for sure.
Cheers

but you can do that in cubase as well. I see you have SL 3.1. so why is this problem for you? Just use "Show Track Colors" option. Every new track will be with different color. Though if that is what you mean.

Yes, but at least ten pages "cover the ground" with... well, let's just say it's easy to shovel and good for the garden.headquest wrote:There's already a 16-page thread covering all this ground
Shame when a good thread gets hijacked like that. Ah well.

It's certainly weird that on a music software discussion board you can alert people to a major upgrade, only to get shot down by a bunch of haters who mostly don't even use the thingMeffy wrote:Yes, but at least ten pages "cover the ground" with... well, let's just say it's easy to shovel and good for the garden.headquest wrote:There's already a 16-page thread covering all this ground

It's as bad in the Props' General Forum, or even worse. Last I looked most of the loudest, most obnoxious, most persistent whiners weren't even registered users. Hmmmm.
My favorite line is "But it would be SO EASY for them to program such-and-such feature that I demand!" I'd love to learn how much audio programming experience the people who keep trotting out this tired little canard. Betcha it's not much... kinda like me claiming pro boxing was so easy anyone could lace up their gloves and do it.

Yeah, I pretty much avoid the Props' General Forum now and stick to their P'head User Forum, where you can have a chat with actual users instead of other people who are on the site because they somehow got lost

I'm a bit concerned about the sequencer. Will it be too complex? Great new features and all, but can you move things around easily and intuively or will it be harder to work simple tasks with, like arranging the stuff and move chunks of music around?

Easier. Everything will appear already grouped as clips, and any automation etc is contained within the clip. So when you move/drag the clip someplace else in the timeline, or copy it, all the relevant info is moved/copied with it.mortsboslim wrote:I'm a bit concerned about the sequencer. Ok, but if you want to select and move (or copy) a large part of music spanning several tracks, is it easy to select and move the whole section of tracks? i.e copying a 16 bar chorus to a later part of the song?headquest wrote:Easier. Dunno (yet) but I would imagine that Ctrl+ select and drag would do all that.

Even though I've been through a few rounds of it before, I really didn't expect the bitching to be so bad this time around. So many major feature requests are being addressed with this update, and yet people are still clinging to their precious audio recording/VST hosting requests? I don't understand how anyone who thinks it's such a big deal has even stuck with Reason for so long.

I think most people on KvR who bag Reason don't REALLY get the concept. I was personally hoping for some simple audio track support, but I didn't really think it would replace Cubase + ReWire anyway. It was just something I thought might make it in. Not really disappointed that it isn't, just a little surprised.
Expecting VST/VSTis is just silly, it would completely defeat the entire purpose and concept of Reason. I would hate Reason to become unstable since it's basically the most stable program I've used for music production.
The new synth, new sequencer, groove thingy and arp really do complete Reason from a workstation perspective. I simply can't wait to upgrade! A lot of the new additions were unexpected from my perspective, but a very welcome addition.
Cheers

I think that you're being a tad bit hypocritical here.soundpalace wrote:I was personally hoping for some simple audio track support, but I didn't really think it would replace Cubase + ReWire anyway. Apparently part of the "concept" is NOT to have audio tracks, so you should count yourself as one of those people, that "doesn't REALLY get the concept" too.
