It's an attractive synthesizer, the X-Y pad and the X-Gator IMHO are the good points about that synth, but to make your own patches is a little pain because to the limited memory of patches (299) and the interface is sometimes confused.nice page, but is the sinth any good?

I own an x-station and it sounds brilliant. The xio has a more advanced engine (some extra filter types and the gator thing), so it should be even better.
You can't store too many presets on it, but it comes with a nice tool which allows you to store and load banks for your computer easy.
The x-station is a dream to program, because it has a knob for everything, I suppose there's a lot more menu diving on the xio.
If you'd buy it for the synth sounds, I wouldn't hesitate.

I think you can store 200 presets. There are no spare slots (all are taken by the default banks), but like I said you can easily switch them out.

I'm more than happy with my Xiosynth. It's been pointed out that there's not much room for storage, but look at alternatives around the same price (or more, actually) and you'll discover that's more than many other synths/modules offer. Also, since it's USB connected, transferring sounds is a complete breeze.
On the plus side of the Xio - excellent synth engine, very compact, X/Y pad, pretty simple to program (certainly easier than the MicroKorg for example), audio interface, compatibility with x/k/a station sounds and more.
On the down side - slightly lower build quality in the keys (tackier than the X-Station/Remote - be careful when cleaning, I almost had a key pop out on me), can't use FX on audio ins.
For the money and compared against similar items in the price bracket, it's hard to beat. You've really got to like that Novation "sound" - if you don't then it's probably not something to consider regardless of what it offers.
