I routed a ks4 and an electribe through the ins on my xstation but i had to turn the input sensitivity all the way down with the volume on each synth about halfway.I thought it was just the way it works on the xstation but i now have the emx plugged into a focusrite saffire le,it's at full volume with tube gain applied but it's not even close to clipping the inputs on the saffire.I coudn't raise it past halfway with my xstation before clipping started and that was with input sens turned all the way down.I checked and there were no effects from the synth on the input,in fact i used a blank control template so everything was at defaults.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Are your able to play synths at normal volumes without having to turn the input gain all the way down?

I need to find out if it's a fault or just the way the inputs a on the xstation are as i'm thinkin of selling it.If it's a fault it may still be under warranty and i can get it fixed before i sell it(or maybe get them repaired/replaced myself if not).

Are the inputs suitable for synths?

Thanks! :)

Did you check the manual to see if you can change the inputs from mic to line level? I don't have x station but i would think you can do that.

The inputs of the XStation are designed for an extremely wide range: all the way from condenser mics and electric guitars to line level.

So it's no surprise you have to turn down the sensitivity all the way and keep the volume of the sending instrument quite low. That's how it's designed: handling extremes takes extreme settings. All the way up for mics, in the middle for guitar, and all the way down for proper line levels.

Cheers BK.Thats what i though at first but they are way to quiet to get good levels.Like i say,it's a different matter with the focusrite,i can have the emx at full volume with headroom!Theres no comparison with sound quality either,my recordings sound much better through the focusrite 8)
