I read somewhere about a sample library of violins for music genres as funk and jazz. I can't remember where it was or what it was. Does anybody knows? I can only find violin samples for classical music? One more question. I've been using First Call Horns. Do you think it's the best choice for funk?

I don't know about funk, but Session Strings (www.mi7libraries.com) is good for pop. I bought the CD-ROM several years ago. They now offer it as individual instruments for download from their website.

You can narrow the eight pages of results by choosing a particular sampler (Kontakt, Halion or EXS24) and/or instrument (violin, cello, etc).

Peter Siedlaczek's Smart Violins might be something for you.

from bestservice.de:
a comprehensive collection of runs, disco licks and other patterns, as well as long notes and legato steps played at different intervals, performed by a large violin ensemble. outstanding construction tools for creating perfectly realistic leading violin lines playable in all keys. there is also a one CD light version with following Keys: C-Dur, c-moll, D#-Dur, d-Moll, f-Moll, A#-Dur.
