I just bought a nice MOTU MTP AV used but it's in perfect shape. It has the parallel port instead of the USB port. For some reason none of my XP systems see it. I used to have a MOTU Express XT and it worked great in the very same parallel ports that I'm trying to use now. Everything installed just fine but XP just does not see the MTP and start the hardware wizard.

Does the MTP AV need to be in a certain mode? I have reset it to factory condition.

Anyone else run into this? I have already tried a new cable.

Please help if you can.

Thanks! Riley

Did you check the button on the front that selects either serial or parallel? (might say PC or MAC) I don't have mine in front of me - I believe it's between the dual row of LEDS and the LCD display.

Also - make sure that you installed the driver properly - that includes making sure that your parallel port is setup correctly. Make sure you have the latest windows XP compatible driver - NOT the Vista driver. (I don't know if it works on XP or not - but I know the latest pre-Vista driver does....) The driver file has a good installation description readme file.

Hi Dave,

Thank you for the response. I have done all of the above and then some. It is really strange. I can get a MOTU Express XT to work just fine on the same port, but not the MTP AV. They even use the same drivers. I'm stumped.

I wonder if I need to set the MTP AV in some certain mode before it will be seen by my host or even MOTU Clock Works it's self?

Thanks! Matthew

Hmmm - I don't recall ever having to set the MTP AV in any special mode - other then the button on the front panel.

Are you sure you have the LPT port setup right? - I think it has to be setup as an EPP... There is another option that needs to be set - something about auto assign or something (I don't have the units here at work or I would copy the info from the LPT driver setup page for you).

You've checked the cable.?. Do you know if the printer port is actually functioning? I'm assuming it is turned on in CMOS on the MOBO. Have you checked the battery in the MTP AV? Might require a new one...thoug I don't think it would cause a problem.

You have gotten the driver installed - it's just not seeing the MTP AV - hmmm - did you try running the LPT Refresh utility? That might help. It should be in the MTP AV folder - I have a shortcut to it on my WinXP desktop.

I guess there is the possibility that the MTP AV is bad.. you could try another computer..or if you know someone nearby who has one working they could check it out for you.

Thanks again Dave. I have check all the above and I won the lottery to get to speak with a MOTU tech support person and we came to the conclusion that it needs to be sent in for repairs.
So,
Thanks to Dave and all who helped (Dave) and especially Dave.

I'm done.
