Edit: the group buy has maxed out through 7/5.
Besides four pianos (Rain Piano, 7CGjr, Emperor and Old Lady), Baroque pipe organ and Renaissance flutes (recorders), I picked up the Theatre, Positif and pump organs and the Arp Solina Ensemble set.

Question: Has anyone tried the Rhodes (esp the TR Jr) and Wurli? I like the demos - particularly the Wurli. Anyone have any experience? What do you think?
Apparently some folk liked the Wurli... I'd received a coupon code for it (below even the group buy price). Apparently all 50 available coupons were used.

I haven't done anything with the pump organ yet. I just grabbed it when I picked up the other two organs.Cordelia wrote:Got the White Grand and Rain Piano. dougsyo, how are you liking the pump organ? Thought about that one.

I think the cheapest option for a multi format sample player is Samplelord ( www.samplelord.com ). It does Halion1/2/3, Kontakt1/2 and Giga3 among several others. Unless you have Extreme Sample Converter. In which case you could get the Gigastudio files and convert to Wusikstation, or soundfont etc.

A little OT maybe, but are the Kontakt versions of these pianos Kontakt 2? I couldn't find the info on the site.
Does Directwave import Kontakt 2 yet?
SampleLord only plays- I could not make adjustments to the sample set (I would like to make different size sets of the pianos for different projects), is this correct?
Like P.T., I'm still trying to work out the best playback solution for me.

I loaded Rain Piano into SampleLord yesterday evening. To be honest, the interface is not pretty (I MUCH prefer K2's) and the load time was extremely long compared to K2.
Besides Directwave and SampleLord, VSampler also loads both Kontakt and Halion sample sets (and faster than SampleLord), but its development is kinda stagnant. To be honest, I'd recommend buying K2, although there was a K1.5 for sale in the marketplace recently. K2's bundled samples are much better than K1.
You'll have to ask Per if any of the sets are K2-specific. I believe most are compatible with Kontakt 1.5. Sometimes someone has written a K2 script to enhance playback, but the samples themselves are still K1.
And IIRC, the current K2 2.21 creates presets that aren't compatible with earlier versions of K2. I guess NI justifies this because the update is free, but that further complicates "workalike" software developer's jobs.

Thanks for your help, dougsyo.
Well, I just get more and more confused.
I guess my hesitation at buying K2 is that I'm not looking for sounds, just a usable interface, stability, and compatability.
Directwave is looking the best right now, but as far as I can tell it won't import K2 (it must be difficult to keep up with all the format changes), which is not a deal breaker since the Sampletekk pianos come in HALion versions as well. I just downloaded the Directwave demo and will give it a spin.

Myself, I bought PMI Hybrid Piano, the Wurli and a couple of other things.
I like the Wurli. Especially with a little extra chorus and little convo, like amp and/or reverb. Up with the tremolo a bit (on the mod wheel) and aaaaahhh, nice!
Can't comment on the Rhodes. I didn't buy that since I already have the Dusty Rhodes from Precisionsound which is one of my absolute favourites!!!
At the moment I'm spending all my time playing and learning the PMI Hybrid Piano though. I'm totally fascinated by it and now that I know it better, I'm totally blown away by the possibilities! Had a few issues with it starting out, but with the help of Worra and Michiel (PMI), everything's working fine now. The Sampletekk support is superb! Man, this Hybrid Piano.
It surprises me so much that there haven't been more talk and excitement about this product. The idea is quite unique as far as I know and the sound and the possibilities are fantastic! It *does* require that you know your Kontakt quite well though, or your possibilities will be very limited. If you only like loading pre-programmed instruments, there are better piano options (some already mentioned in the thread). Anyone who likes the idea of experimenting with all the components that makes up a true piano sound to create unique pianos with super quality - get this baby while it's still on sale!!!

Heh, just realised I probably sound like I work in the Sampletekk sales department. I don't of course. I'm just very very happy with the Hybrid Piano is all. ...or maybe I've been hanging out at northernsounds a bit too much lately...

Me too, with 4 ST pianos, harpsichord, 4 pipe organs, Ren flutes, Solina ensemble, and a few otherspekadan wrote:Heh, just realised I probably sound like I work in the Sampletekk sales department. I don't of course. ...
I decided not to go with the tubed wurli yet - I decided that until I give what I have (DimPro with newest expansion and IK/SR piano collection) a try, I'll wait. I may still get it though, I have a few more days to decide, and the full price is still not bad

Man, I keep arguing with myself on whether I need another piano. I NEED an upright, and the Rain Piano has always been intriguing.
It's between this and Nebula 2 if I get the money. Darn, I hate bad timing(on my part). Every since this GB started, I've argued with myself.
Maybe I'll come into a few more bucks and get both. Not likely though. Grrrrr..
