anyway it really is quite quiet.
Yes, really really quiet it is.
I allready wrote to Sigfried(the developer) about it so i'm pretty shure we will see an update soon. He sounded positive about changing it.

Hi, this is Siegfried!
I'm terribly sorry that it's SO quiet. I programmed it so that with most sounds there would be no clipping when playing 8 notes simultaneously. This wasn't a good idea. I only noticed how bad it is when I actually tried making music with it.

There will be an update soon!

I know, there are still some notes hanging from time to time. I didn't find the reason for this yet. Anybody figured out when this happens?

Any other problems?

Post

Hmmm... yes
I would really like if i could use the sustain pedal with SQ8L.
And it would be very nice if the pitch bend was default at +- 2 semitones instead of 4
Otherwise it's soooo nice sigi

Does anybody know where to change the ADSR-values? Right mouseclick and then?

Perhaps in the "Pro" version a better GUI would be nice...

As you say, right click and choose one of the envelopes 1-4.
Envelope 4 is the final output stage but remember it can be used as modolator other places in the synth.
SQ80/SQ8L has 4 envelopes that can be used everywhere in the synth so it's a good idea to know wich one and where your envelope is used before you edit it.
Another thing is the envelopes is not normal ADSR types.
Instead you have 4 times and 4 levels if i remember right so this is another thing to get used to if you only know normal ADSR.
But this is just one of many many things that makes SQ80/SQ8L a GREAT synth :-)

ESQ-1 and SQ1/2/R are not the same thing as SQ80, hence different SysEx dump format.

Anyway, is sustain/hold supported yet?

SQ8L indeed can load ESQ1 sounds, but not SQ1/2/R.

Ah, well thanks for the correction. :hihi:

ESQ1 also don't work:

Or are just the sysex-files there corrupt?

Post

Then either your syx files are bad or you're doing it wrong

Post

btw, does anyone have some banks that aren't included in the pack tomg (IIRC) posted earlier in this thread ?
I've been eyeing an esq1 for some time, and wanted to compare the presets loaded in sq8l to the mp3s on sythmania, but i couldn't find any sysx dumps.

all i could find were payware banks, super pricey, on websites that looked almost as old as the machine itself...

Post

Well, the one I posted earlier here contains more banks

Is there going to be a mac version of the upcoming pro release?

I used to own an SQ-80, and would like to replace that with either an ESQ-1 (couldn't stand the cheap clackety keyboard on the SQ-80 and the poly aftertouch isn't that great on it) or this plugin...
