how to make step record sequencer easier?? without going there alot of menus to pick each note values, rests, slurs, ties? how can i do this in real-time or more graphical i guess?
I mostly set my sequencer METER to 4/4 because most of my songs are in 4/4 .
But when you step record the note values you have to go to alot of menus to pick which note value you want per BEAT its really annoying
I think using a midi scoring software would be easier to score out the step record notes onto a score right?

Which DAW records midi messages for sequencing?
instead of step recording i can step record in real-time and record it onto a DAW track and it will be sync up to the drum machine meter/tempo of the song how can i do this please?
If i use a seperate sequencer 16 track or 32 track sequencer the meter/tempo and midi sync is hard to LOCK up all together with the DAW's drum machine track and song chords it would be better if the DAW had the sequencing tracks built in intergeted in one because of the meter/tempo and midi sync is hard to LOCK up

The problem is that when i playback the midi scored out step record data that goes midi out to a keyboard voice brain and then audio output to record to a DAW 4/4 drum machine track#1 the lagency/delay is offset so it throughs off the meter/tempo/sync alot
If the drum machine track#1 is 4/4 meter and 90 bpm tempo
and the midi scoring software sequencer is 4/4 meter , 90 bpm tempo
there is a Allignment problem i'm having from the time interval of the software date going to out of the midi output triggering the keyboards midi voices and then out of the keyboards audio output going to the DAW track#2 to record the audio sequencer sound it does offset the drum machine audio track with the sequencer track audio

"lock up all together" - WHAT?
1.) sequencer tempo with the DAW to the drum machine recorded on the DAW track
2.) sequencer meter with the DAW to the drum machine recorded on the DAW track
3.) sequencer Midi CLOCK with the DAW drum machine recorded track
"step record in real time" -
1.) Real time sequencer lets you record in real time using a midi controller using the keyboard keys but DOESN"T lets you enter in the duration values, slurs, ties, etc. how can i do this in real time sequencing?
"you have to go to alot of menus to pick which note value you want per BEAT" -
1.) To enter in the duration values, slurs, ties, etc can't be DONE doing real time sequencing why is that?

1.) yes a Notation software for midi notation scoring

The Roland MC 505 and Alesis Micron has sequencers built in
When i step record the note durations, note values, slurs, ties, it sounds more gated when when i do "real-time" sequencing
Real time sequencing doesn't add the RHYTHMIC GATING why is that?
and How can i add the Rhythmic gating, note durations, note values, slurs, ties in "real time sequencing"?

Hi Walters.
I know what grief your going through.
There is a solution or two.
The latency, as you may be aware, is accuring at the audio convertors.(spc/mac sound card and DAW output.
Because you go into the soundcard to record a drum track to the seqr, you have added the cards A to D latenty to your seqr track.
To avoid this, take the audio from the seqr/card output and the DAW output and run each to an audio mixer, then back into the seqr.
This will most likely happen when you have all your seqr tracks mixed as you want them, and your ready for the stereo mixdown.
Another solution would be to record the DAW track in with the other tracks in the project and then grab the "latency alignment fader" or "track latency compensation" for the recorded DAW track and ajust for the latency.
Cubase sx has this and I suppose better seqr hosts do also. Read up.

It's all about "quantization".
I was thinking your DAW is a hardware workstation synthesizer. Is this true?
I need to know this before we talk more.

no my DAW is a tascam 2488 24 track recorder
i record the drum machine tracks on track#1
then when i add the sequencer track its offset its not sync up,meter, timing is off alittle because of the convertors and triggering
Real time sequencing doesn't add the RHYTHMIC GATING why is that?
I'm very lazy to do step sequencing how can i get that step sequencing rhythmic gating sound but doing it in real time?

I just wrote a large bit and lost it from a new sort of popup.
Not going to write it all again...but some I will. Sorry.
If I were you i'd make a new post with a title like this "tascam 2488 to pc host sync prob".
Your better off asking tascam owners to help you.
---
Ok. One possibility;
- Maybe the tascam will not allow itself to be "slaved".
In other words, the tascam in order to snych to your pc host, needs to be the "master"sync.
Look for this in the tascam manual.
I have seen this with roland machines.
If this is not the answer, try to be more clear writing the new post.
Use these terms;
- pc/mac - cubase/FLSudio/Traction3 - these are "host sequencers".
- Tacam - (even though tascam calls it a DAW, it is hardly a workstation. Call it a porta-studio.Or just "the tascam HD recorder"
---
I don't know what you mean by "rhythmic gating".
I understand the principles of real time and step recording. But I cna't understand what your asking well enough to help you.

OK now it all makes sense, Annode is Walters alter ego.
