I have created a number of Kits for Battery 3 but for accessibilities sake I would like to translate these sample sets to a freeware drum sampler. My question is, what would be the best, most widely used free sample player to use?

I have downloaded DiscoDSP HighLife and DeLa Mancha's Erratic. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding these two?

I'd guess sfz was the most common freeware sampler. Does erratic have its own patch format? If not, I'd go with Highlife, since anyone could just load the wave files themselves in Erratic.

Simple wav files would be great IMO.

sfz format can be read by sfz and by Highlife and will give access to the wave files themselves. Another bonus - Extreme Sample Converter does sfz.

EDIT: Shortcircuit Free should also be able to read sfz files.

Thanks guys, I'm looking into sfz... do I have to encode the files into it's native format? I don't mind doing that of course but is there a specific app I need for the job (I don't own ESC)/ does it support batch conversion? I'll also look into Shortcircuit, I remeber hearing good things about it before.

The .wav files will be available as part of the patches but I would like to at very least set up envelopes for samples.

just a note that while sfz covers most people, sf2 (soundfont) covers mac users as well - i.e it covers everybody.
