MPD24 Witout any doubt, im saving for it actually.

never tried mpd24, but wouldnt want to with all the problems i have heard about from other people//mostly problems with faulty encoders, and random midi communication problems.
i own a padkontrol, and it works like a charm, never have had any problems with it.

+1 for the padkontrol, it just works and works and works.
Must also say that I've never used the mpd24.

have you thought about looking for a 2nd hand OctaPad or something and using sticks? It's a hell of a lot more satisfying than drumming with your fingers.

what bones said. I was saving up for a padkontrol, but once alesis put out their control pad, I've been waiting for money and good reviews to jump on that instead. then again, I'm a drummer. me like hit stuff.

Just last week I spent about an hour at a local store trying the Korg PadControl, M-Audio Trigger Finger, and the Akai MPD24. The Akai was the winner hands down. Much better construction, and much more responsive, both the pads and the faders. One of the faders pulled off of the M-Audio unit the first time I touched it.

One more thing, I own a Korg KP-2, and the touchpad on the Padcontrol feels very different. I didn't test out how well it controlled software elements, but it had a very gritty feel.
