For multi-out VST'S:

Hey, remember when you could select the outputs being displayed in the mixer strip within the sequencer?? This was a feature of the first few XT2 betas that for some reason disappeared!

Right now, the only output channel being displayed in the sequencer's mixer strip is the vst's first output ....This selectable output thing really really needs to come back...with the option to rename them as well....AND...the option to hide channel strips that aren't being used as a channel for a vst's output.

Djsubject posted a pic of it here if you don't remember what this feature looked like:

A couple of things about sends:
- sends pre / post fader and inserts pre / post sends would both be nice options.
- an 'on/off' button for the send amounts (ie when it's 'off', the send amount is considered to be zero) would be cool.
- a button so that a given send actually splits the signal (rather than sending 'extra' to the send and leaving the rest untouched) could be really handy.

I don't know much about mixers, so I'm not sure if the last one is a standard sort of feature or something that would be unique to XT. I'd envisage using it if, for instace, I had an FSU of some sort and wanted to be able to mess with any channel I want. So I'd put the FSU on a send, and when I sent a channel to it, the unprocessed sound from the channel would shut off.
It's a rave, Lewis!

I'm starting to really need the ability to drag back and forth from the mixer to the comp view and vice versa.
(Thought it wouldn't bother me until levels on audio lines came but... :? )
Also, is there away to send Note data to mixer inserts?

Try the audio switcher in my sig; but you will have to do your mixing in the compview right now because of some limitations. A simple group comp will be your friend for getting a level slider.

there is a way, sort of. you can route midi notes to a send effect, and then drag the effect back to the insert bin.

Nice tip! :) I'll have to go try it out...

:x
Not working.... using gsnap for instance as a send and routing midi track 1 to it. Gsnap still doesn't receive the not data.

edit: a little buggy but it does work!

hmmm, it works for me with gsnap...

there is a slight bug with this, actually. when you route a midi track to a send, the mixer strip for the track in the sequencer is the wrong kind. it should be orange with no send bin. currently it shows the send bin with itself in it.

other than that, sending midi to a send works, but keep in mind that sends are automatically disabled if they're not processing any audio (so you need a non-zero send amount from an active audio source).

i guess this is kind of off-topic though...

You can load an effect to a midi track in the sequencer, and then, in the mixer, you'll have an option to route any channel to that effect.

yes, that is probably a better way to do it, but you lose the benefits of having it as in insert (wet/dry amount, bypass button, drag & drop in mixer).

if you do it my way, the problem is that the routing becomes invisible. and it's lost if you save and reload the project... okay, i agree. for now, don't do it my way.

Hey actaully it does work for me now buit I had to press play again to get it to work.

Too bad there aren't pre-fader sends... gsnap/vocoders won't do much good as a send.
Back to hoping for more comp view love I guess.

BTW
Where do the sends come into the comp view? No way to fiddle with those.

I found a way around pre-fader sends missing:
add a group comp after the signal traet the group like your channel (except for sending) instead.

well, i think sends should appear in the comps view... but first we'd need to have volume levels per cable, for send levels. actually, it looks like we already talked about this back on page two.

Yeah, we did. But I agree.

oh yeah, and if you do that, you can also send midi to the group, and inserts on the group channel will get the notes.

I agree seeing the mixer's routings in the comp view would be cool but if I remember correctly, the idea made Jorgen's head hurt.
It would be amazing though! +1!
