Righty, all done. Here's the new thread, started by audiojunkie:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2612498
ALL discussion of AQ's copy protection, AQ's GUI design, AQ's DSP skills, AQ's personality, AQ's taste in china and silverware patterns, and AQ's spelling should be posted to that thread... while it lasts.
If this thread gets polluted and hijacked again, offending posts will either be split off to a repository where they're not available to most posters, or they'll simply be deleted, depending on how busy I am with work (dealing with product support issues today, hoopla) and whatnot.
Folks, please try to keep the heads cool and the arguments clean. A couple of people (including one or more whom I rather like) are skating close to ban territory. Maybe into it. To me, having to issue a ban is a badge of failure. It means I have failed to keep people from flying off the handle, failed to encourage decency and civility. (We don't all have to emulate little cartoon angels from a child's prayer book illustrations. But being jackasses doesn't help anyone.)
I try to be as slow as possible to ban anyone who's not a spammer or an irredeemable troll (disruptive non-contributors get banned without remorse). But with much regret I will accept my own failure and do the nasty deed if and when it's really necessary.
Finally, there is NO place at KVR for threats of any kind. Well, any kind more violent than a bonk over the head with an anthro skunk's tail. Lose the threats or... lose. *shrug*
Now, let the xhip-ness continue.

Well, by reading all this drama, I have now stumbled upon a wicked synth, that's my new favourite toy. It's called xhip (duh!).
Don't know why I'd never heard of it before. It's very direct and in ur face sounding.
Initially I could only get a square osc (but a decent one at that). Now I'm working my way round the GUI, detuned the oscillators, and switched the filter on . Wow, what a sound!
Tried to look on the net, and couldn't find any presets (any help here would be appreciated).
So went the old XT1 preset gen route, and this synth turned into a beast! Mainly untamed and unusable sounds, but stuff I'm not used to hearing. Maybe this synth has very deep modulation, or whatever.
Anyway luckily I'm off work for a few days, to examine this beast further. However with some of these random presets, the EXT1 CPU meter almost maxes out.
I'm not going to be a registered user of XT until next week, so I can't save and demonstrate what I'm babbling about.
so 3 points
1.xhip is amazing
2.are there any presets available for the current version?
3.are there any tips on CPU optimization (my system is AMD64 single core, running windows xp,SB audigy card, sample rate 48000,buffer size 512. I haven't tried it with my edirol ua-1000 outboard card yet though.
Regards

tar42: How do you randomize presets with energyXT? I'm curious.
Anyway, back on topic, in case aciddose missed it..
Hey, regarding your mention of XHip being part of a previous 'tracker sequencer' program you mentioned, is there a (Windows-EXE) binary of that so-called sequencer? I'd like to have a looksee and probably have my tracker friend look at it.

And I've deleted AQ's most recent comments in this thread, as I promised to do before they were made. They contained nothing of significance, just insults and cries of "liar." He's welcome to post whatever he likes in the new thread made just for his dispute.vurt wrote:ive taken it to the relevant thread ...
AQ, this is a final warning. You nearly earned a ban with your previous comments in this thread, now in the split off thread. If you keep trying to hijack this thread again you're going to have to take a time-out, just like snooky's doing.
[edit] In his final post for a week, AQ decided to call me a Nazi. That is NOT what he got banned for, but for refusing to stop attempting to hijack this thread. (As promised, I deleted several other posts he made well after being warned not to do so.) But it was an extremely ill-advised and grave insult nonetheless. As a rule I do not hold grudges but I will remember that.
P.S.: AQ, if you try evading the ban by making another account, that account and your regular one will both be permanently banned. Fair warning. Do the smart thing and take a week to cool off. The only one you're damaging is yourself.

"...SO I DON'T HAVE TO SEE THIS POST HEADLINE IN THE SIDEBAR ANYMORE
+1 Laughing"
oh if only that were really possible, especially the "XHip".. where did this capitalization come from
where should be a rofl tag, like that one based upon the "duck and cover" image that posted on the american "dod" site and photoshopped by something-awful forum goons. either that or the same image with bones' head pasted on. ...would get extensive use here.
that said, i hope i can really get things cooking soon. when i send a mail to ben asking for a news post for beta 7 however, i suspect you'll have multiple threads to annoy you. i should really ask for a xhip forum so that there isnt quite so much pollution in the instruments forum

SA? Pfft. The Duck and Cover graphic made by one of KVR's homegrown photoshopping goons (me) is doubtless infinitely superior. Unfortunately the goon's cheesy Russian server appears to be down so the goon can't post it yet again. Lucky you. ;-}

ok, regarding the aq business, nobody needs to apologize to me or really to anyone else very much. we should all assume there is either something wrong with the guy at the moment, or it is even possible it might not be him.
i think he needs to realize what he has done and i think meffy or whoever else will be reasonable enough to delete that locked thread after aq has realized what damage might have occurred due to his comments.
the spin off thread regarding his claims of a kamikaze crack defense are probably the worst.. he might even be putting himself in a legally liable situation for making those claims, even if they are untrue.
ah, well anyway xhip doesnt need a kamikaze defense to be explicitly added, i manage that naturally fairly often it seems
anyway if anybody missed it the latest version is http://xhip.cjb.net/xhip/releases/v0/b6 ... 6.12.9.dll
this version seems stable for now, and it will be the last one i release before i take off a good chunk of the to-do list. it probably wont take me long now.. usually most of the work is "setting up" to implement the stuff on the to-do, then the actual items just fly off the list.
for the sequencer, i gave up on that and i actually didnt keep the original source code. most of the source is lost at this point, although i still have all the core functionality. it is just the gui code and so on was c-style oo using void pointers.. i learned from that mistake with my new gui code. i hope i can re-implement the tracker as part of a fully modular host (where sequencers are plugins too) but i want to finish xhip and the effects first.
http://xhip.cjb.net/temp/public/archive ... rthing.zip
press f9 to open the "shell".. type "load song garbage" (.adxs is amended automatically)
a silly design mistake.. i should've just used "load garbage.adxs" and "song" would've been implied maybe. so, that is the sort of thing you'll see repeated many times in the tracker and it really is in need of an overhaul before it is practical.
oh, and press f5 to play, f8 to stop. most of the controls are the same as impulse tracker, or fast tracker.. so check the docs for those if you dont feel comfortable. ...and remember, this isnt really stable and the binary is actually several years old.
