I'm now thinking this could be done by controlling the lenghts of each note played by a given pattern. For instance:
If Pattern A = 100% original length then Pattern B = 0% length
So as the morph travels from one pattern to the other the percent would increase for one and decrease for the other.
This would not take averaging into condiseration. I just figured that this would be a simple approach. Now Allz I have to do is find a plugin that controls note lengths

i made something similar once using ndc plugs "notelimit"Lagrange wrote:I'm now thinking this could be done by controlling the lenghts of each note played by a given pattern. For instance:

i also wanted to morph from one midi pattern to another...so i put a "notelimit" plugs on each pattern then controlling them via cc# with a slider...so at value 0 only the first pattern played then augmenting the value would cut the note slowly from pattern 1 and add slowly the notes from pattern 2...at maximum only pattern 2 played...in between is kind of a mix of both...
hard to explain clearly.....ill look if i have this again...i think ive done a slider with synth edit sending cc# and then controlled the midi plugins all in energy xt.,,
well...heres the site with the midi plugins...maybe this could help

its there...well the one that i used...its not a length limit like you wanted though...hmm i made an error...it was "midi note range filter" i used...not "midi note filter"
the plugin pack is at the bottom to download
(just to make sure this is only the plugin i used...not the entire project i created..like i said i can look if i have it again)

Which technically could kinda of do what where look for here but would (potentially) become very messy when it hit the middle of the fade.. Dayum you got me excited there for a minute!EkleipSiS wrote:hmm i made an error...it was "midi range filter" i used

ill just try to look how iv done it in the past...like i said not exactly what you were asking but i remember it was interesting...ill get the info back and tell how ive done it...Lagrange wrote:Which technically could kinda of do what where look for here but would (potentially) become very messy when it hit the middle of the fade.. Ok..heres how ive done it...not really morphing but a nice effect between 2 midi part...
So the slider "the first" sends CC# to 2 "ndc midi note range filter" the gray area on the pianoroll means the notes are muted...so when my slider is down midi part B is muted and not midi part A...if the sliders is up only B is played...and what is interesting is when the slider is halfway..only half bottom of the notes "from lets say C3 depending where the slider is" of midi pattern a is played and only the upper half "from c3" of midi pattern b is played...its a blend of both..cut a little bit...
cool variations from 2 midi patterns playing with that...not a morphing...more of a note cutter??

Wow ok looks cool. I'd like to give it a go. Hey what is that MIDI X plug? You think it'l work like the mgui MIDI mixer here?

the midi-X thing was something i made in synth edit to do my midi pseudo morph...it was kind of a big thing to control up to 12 midi parts in energy xt...to switch between them...so the sliders sends cc# to control the vst plugins "midi note range filter"
as for the mixer you are showing it seems to be a volume control and mute for midi notes...

I built this realtime monophonic midi morphing thing in Plogue - it splits the midi data into freq/amp/gate signals. On each Gate signal I decide if the noise just sampled was above or below the sliders value, and plays the appropriate freq/amp against the following note. Another setting allows another slider to crossfade between the frequencies, which just occured to me is a bit buggy still. I uploaded some noises anyway (microtonic beats)

0-10 secs - pattern 1
10-20 secs - pattern 2
20-63 secs - slow slide of random slider
63-90 secs - and frequency crossfade
90-end - widdling
