Yeah about 8 years ago i tried out a demo of T-racks and thought it didn't do much. Can't remember if it distorted a lot or if i couldn't tell much processing was going on, BUT NOW.. unbelievable! I tried out the demo today and it did what SO many other processors just couldn't do for my peticular mix (classical 'fantasy' rock). So i bought it.
Does anyone here know where i could possibly find some links about it, certain settings, etc. I've done some searching and couldn't find many links. If not, no big deal, i know what's about to come in the mail is enough for me .

Blessings..

Cool... I am planning on making it my "free" download with the copy of Ampeg SVX I just bought.

I do classical/symphonic "fantasy" rock also... hopefully this will do the trick.

Yeah that's one nice Bass rig. I think i'm going to download a "free" copy of CSR :D.

Cool Bro! Post a link to some of your mp3s. I'ld love to hear some of them. Our stuff is at wordsong.info. I haven't checked out the Ampeg SVX. Does it have a symphonic bass (acoustic bass) emulation in it? I don't want to get the Ampeg guitar package cause it didn't seem to have a good heavy metal patch in it (you know, that 80's head bangin sound). But what it DID have was nice indeed!

CSR is awesome. I use it a lot with my symphonic stuff (Philharmonik)... it makes the music sound like it being played in a symphony hall (the samples being recorded in a real hall helps).

I have stuff at

Hi justjazz,
Well, what type music are you using it on? The creators of T-racks coded it to emulate vintage tube units so it's not as 'transparent' as say elephant. Thus i use it very sparingly - choosing a preset like 'regular #1' from the 'suite' menu. Then i cut back the output on the compressor as well as a few other minor adjustments. It gives SUCH a warm thick sound to the style music we're doing (classical fantasy rock). And when it limits my wav it doesn't clip the heck out of it like many other processors i've tried. Just remember to use a lot of moderation ..instead of modulation :).

Hmmmmm, i'll try that when i get it. I might get the Bass package instead IF it has some acoustic basses in it, but if it's all electric & jass uprights, etc, then i'll go ahead and get CSR. I've heard it's awesome. Gonna try out the demo soon. Hey, thanx for the links.

Ampeg SVX doesn't model specific instruments, it models electric bass amplifiers (specifically, Ampeg). It's like Amplitube or the Line 6 PODxt products.

I think the main thing for using T-RackS is if you want to start with one of the presets, you'll probably have to dial it back a little - they're kind of extreme, out of the box. Try turning down the input drive on the limiter and back the gain off a little on the soft-clipper, and if needed pull back the input drive on the compressor and that should take away harshness. I've seen that some people don't care for T-Racks, but I like it a lot. I have other plugins that do the same things, but I like the combo of all the modules in T-RackS when using it as a suite. Sounds good to me.

I love T-Racks.
I guess it depends on the music you create.
I do not compress the hell out of my tracks, most of the time I just use the default setting (the one that comes up when you first turn it on).
It just makes everything a little louder, a little rounder and a little clearer.
I also love the "stereo widening" on the compressor.
Ahh... and the EQ is sweet as well.
The only thing I don't like is the multi band limiter, it's a little too dirty for me so most of the time I don't use it unless I have a problematic pre-mix that I can not change.

I just got my copy of T-RackS (and Ampeg SVXm, too!) and after just a few minutes with it and just experimenting with some of the pre-sets, I am in LOVE with this one! I really like the Vintage 2 stuite pre-set... with a little bit of orchestral hall reverb (provided by CSR, of course), I was able to make one of my orchestral pieces sound like one of those lushly recorded Deutsche Grammaphone type concerts from the 60s... I don't know how to describe it but that's what it made me think of... it certainly gave the piece a different character.

I personally use T-RackS in almost all my music[1], and have been for a few years. I'm happy to answer any questions you might have.

For anyone who want's T-RackS to be less harsh, try this:

1) Turn off the softclipper. It's set to -6db by default. Make sure if you turn the softclipper off, you keep the output level of the multiband limiter to 0db.
2) Turn down the overload on the multiband limiter. The multiband limiter can get really hot, but it doesn't always have to be.
3) Increase the release time on the multiband limiter and the compressor to make them more gentle.
4) Raise the sidechain HPF for the compressor to make the response less "bumpy" and responsive (the compressor is usually quite smooth anyway).
5) Assuming a compressor->limiter chain, keep the input drive of the limiter close to unity (0db) and increase the compressor input drive until you get close to your desired dynamic range. The compressor increases its output level accoringly (and thus drives the limiter), even with heavy compression). Then adjust the limiter input drive as a kind of "balance" between compression ("ride") and limiting ("push").

Hope that helps. :-)
