Anybody have any idea on how to use this? I've tried but can't seem to get it right. What I'm trying to do with StepSeq is control Muon's Tau2 Cutoff (Midi CC78) with a pattern. In this case, do I use StepSeq as an Insert or VST? In either case, how? Is there a step-by-step how to document?

Dunk, can I PM you on this?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry to say but it's quite likely that it's not gonna work in 5.1r1. The midi plugs are pretty simple and just send MIDI to the host - the VSTSDK does not provide for anything more specific than just giving the MIDI events to the host.

What the host then does with the events varies differently between hosts and even different version s of the same host.
Cubasis 3 used to do this live - in that the MIDI sent from a plugin would be added to any other MIDI being received (e.g. from your MIDI interfaces/keyboards etc.) and this let you have a VST plugin sending MIDI to the host and the MIDI playing another plugin "live". However, after the Cubasis 3.0r2 update, this was no longer the case and MIDI being sent from plugins does not get added to MIDI coming from MIDI ports etc. :( IT would get recorded but it would not be passed to other plugins live...
I kinda presume this is the case with Cubase 5.1r1 as well cos Cubasis 3.0r3 and 4 haven't gone back to the old way of doing it... :(

so - basically a long-winded way of saying - "sorry mate, don't think it'll work!". ;)

NB - have you tried using Cubase's MIDI CC lane for making a pattern on CC 74 and sending it to Tau2? If you have seperate parts in the arrange page just for different CC 74 patterns, this may be the easiest way of doing it. I'm not familiar with Cubase tho' so I wouldn't know how to go about it in 5.1.
Dunk, can I PM you on this?
Sure - feel free to PM or email me about anything ;)

sorry I couldn't be more help ;)

It works fine here using 5.1r1 , tau2, and the instrument version of MoConSeq. :?

The tau2 midi track must be selected (and outputing it's midi to tau2), the sequencer must be playing, and the MoConSeq VSTi must be on.

:) Cheers Cold C - nice to hear it works :)

yeah, I can verify this. its a bit odd, but you have the tau 2 track selected on playback. If you hit record, then the midi data is recorded to the tau track just like if you were twiddling knobs on your controller. coool

Thanks for the assist guys.

cold c - when you say it works with the instrument version, I assume you mean create a track and assign the MoConSeq VST to it. But do you also need to create a Part and if so, does it need to contain any data?

tinman - At this stage I'm looking at getting MoConSeq to control the Tau2 parameters on playback and not necessarily recording the outcome. Maybe this is not possible.

Anyways, I'll try this when I get home.

Cheers.
