Axiom vs Novation remote

I have been looking at buying a 25 key controller fro travel and have decided on either an axiom or a remote. I have had a chance to play around with the axiom, use the knobs etc but I have not been able to find a Remote to evaluate the action. I was thinking of buy online. How does the Remote key action compare to the Axiom? I have tested some other controllers and found the keys to be springy and kinda plastic feeling. The Axiom felt a little bit substantial. How does the remote feel?

Remotes are better than Axioms, by quite a wide margin. I've tried both and I felt the keys on the Axiom were somewhat compromised compared to the keys on the Novations. The Novations just have buttery smooth key action, and they also have better aftertouch response as well, the gradient seems to be smoother when playing live.

Thanks, I have tried the axiom the keys were ok but I really like the drum pads. IF I want to try the remote I will have to buy it and then resell if I do not want it. Maybe that's the way to go.

I have had both and I still have the Remote 37SL. It is just soo easy to program and it works everytime I use it. I like the keys and pads better on the Axiom but with the Remote I can get to making music faster and spend less time trying to configure at keyboard.

I also found the keys on the Axiom to be more substantial than those on the Novation but a lot of people really like that super smooth Novation action. It's really a personal thing, they're both good in different ways. Anyway, despite my preference for the Axiom action, Automap makes the Novation win out for me every time, & by a large margin.

In that case, the Axiom would actually get my vote, unless of course the Novation touchpad is useful to you.

I tried the axiom and the remote sl. I felt the sl has a much better key response. The drum pads are more responsive on the axiom but you would be better served by getting dedicated drum trigger if you use them that much. The casing one the axiom had that cheap plastic toy feel; it flexed when pressed. It had that you drop it once even in studio use and it's going to break. If you'r looking at the le model get the axiom; other then the smoother feel of the keys I think it would be a better controller. I would recomend getting the remote sl for the automap, or getting a remote zero and a trigger finger with a basic keyboard It's just another option. Either way you go the axiom or the remote they will server you well. Good luck with your decision it's not an easy one.

What about the novation drum pads were not as good as the axioms? Can those x-y touchpads on the Novation Remotes/XioSynths be programmed to send a midi note, in order to trigger a kick drum sample with it?

The pads on the original Remote SL are tiny and not very well-placed. Novation did a much better job on the Remote SL Compacts' pads, the Axioms' pads are still better but it's not enough of a difference to be a deal breaker. The new speed dial on the Compacts more than makes up for it.neptunefix wrote:What about the novation drum pads were not as good as the axioms?

Can the touch pad on the other Novation ReMotes and XioSynths be used to trigger a drum, or is it only able to assign paremeters?
