I had a midi file for 'Humanity II' I wanted to throw with this as a bonus, but I've lost that file, and the only website I found that had it is gone now. Humanity II is the song from The Thing soundtrack that everyone knows and loves. It's so hardwired into my head that a few people thought my Initiate track was a plagiarism, but it was honestly a subconscious thing on my part.

As luck would have it, I just found both that one as well as one for Humanity II. I'm having a problem with the Fog one though, as when I open it in eXT's sequencer, there's no midi data in the tracks(wtf?)..

So if you run across yours, please throw it my way when possible.

For any late comers who were wondering what this 'Friends 4 Life' thing is about, and as it seems that I can't reference ANY of the threads for the previous F4L tracks, I'll explain briefly that it's a series of tracks, basically reactionary pieces to individuals in my life randomly/instantly selected, with the actual track production rather frantically generated(Buoyancy took me less than 45 minutes) while still influenced by the event trigger. I can't remember who the first one was dedicated to, it may have been xoxos, not sure, but the 2nd and third were dedicated to KVR's 'ourobouros', and 'voidoid surrealist' respectively. Steve pointed out a name mix-up in one of these and I realized I'd not uploaded one of them, so I've sorted them all out, and as there's no other direct way to grab em, here's the work to date in order if anyone's interested in the earlier works:

it were a great double listen but I have to say this didn't grab me as let's say Death takes a woman did. Then again as I found myself upping the volume for a long time to get something out of the monitors I felt this somehow lacking energetic dynamics; not that I wanted it to jump up and out, but it felt a little numbed.

Which leads me to the realization halfway through the second run that I've been listening to a 64-80 vbr kbs 22khz version? This for me answers the dynamics and non grabbing part that is. Or did I miss out on the proper version d/l ing it a few days after the fact?

Anyways; something to add to the ongoing words as we do go back quite a bit. Through time as I personally grew direction in my own sound I felt that at the same time I grew more and more away from the Café. Part of it is selfishness, but I do also feel that somewhere between then and now something snapped inside or changed through time. I do know I still have an interest in the darker side that you sorta introduced me to, but I'm finding it a struggle to give it a proper place. Stupid ongoing internal conquests are more the result of that, but I'm drifting here

I guess its that thing called forward motion, new fields or deepening ones' soundexplorations also allow for sensitivity to increase. I know you've had some pretty rough steps, but still feel connected, a quality that is admirable.

Now get that CD out there!!!

ok, I really need help here with this one. I started using the vbr's instead of regular 192kpbs mp3s. I thought this would give me better audio at a smaller file size, and I've done these exports in Audition, using it's inferior mp3 codec(I should be using the LAME codec, correct?).

Anyways, this is the mp3's properties of the file I've shared here:

Does this look correct? When I use the vbr export settings, I usually apply the(what seems like the best) options.

Maybe it was just my mix that sucked for you, but things get a bit more serious @ the 8:50 mark if you didn't make it that far..

This just doesn't make any sense to me at all..Could you possibly have downloaded the wrong file? This is one of the strongest pieces I've done bar none.

I'd like to make sure. I can't stand the idea of people listening to erroneous file renders. If the rest have heard the same I'm gonna bash my head in as the wave file is monstrous..

Well, my audiocard and it's settings have been giving me a few headaches lately, so I do blame it on something on this end. I just do think it strange for the track to be playing at such a terrible compression (which obviously is not your doing). But this is what for me created this lack as it sounded mashed. I am somehow not listening to what you originally uploaded and that I find odd.
