The 3 outputs have no names. At least all of the 3 mixer channels are nameless in Orion. (The plugin and its playlist channel has the "smackbox050" name.)
My 'biggest complain' would be that the Stutter works 'noisily with crackles' when applied with lower Noise Colour settings.

Ah! Names! Added to the list
You want the stutter to have a smoother envelope? Or that it should adjust with the colour setting? It won't really be "stuttery" then, but it's a matter of taste and function I guess.
I kind of like how it is now, because you can use it to 'trigger' the filter at high resonance settings.
For what it's worth, your "biggest complain" was really quite small imo

Yes, my biggest complain is relly small. I could say smackbox is almost ready to be released.
I want the stutter to be stuttery, I love the stuttering so much, maybe the maximum stutter could be even more frequent.
But somehow with lower noise colour the stuttering become noisy in a bad crackling way. Anyway I've checked it with a good pair of AKG headphones. That can't hide such problems, maybe the speakers can soften or hide it. Maybe it's a matter of taste also, but I can't resist such crackles.
I've seen the waveform of the cracklings in an audio editor, the attacks are way too sharp there.

Yeah, well, I know exactly what you mean and what the issue is
It's definitely audible, headphones or not
Maybe making the attack just a wee tiny bit smoother would be enough. Then it would sound a bit "poppy" instead of crackly, yet fast when using on more high frequency content (higher colour setting). I will investigate it. It might just end up not sounding stuttery and snappy enough with higher colour settings though, which would be a shame too

If that's to be debated, perhaps add an option to adjust the 'attack' slope or 'strength' of the crackles.

w00t, more features/complexity/cpu usage!
I must say I'm reluctant towards adding such things

well...when ya put it like that, I'd have to agree that streamlining the process might be best..stefan, you realiststefancrs wrote:w00t, more features/complexity/cpu usage!

seriously- stutter is fine the way it is right now even if it is a bit tempermental and "content contingent" as to how strong the effect really is (ie- stutter effect is obvious on some types of sounds and not so on others...)
but again- In my not so important opinion, it's fine.

I might have a go at making it a bit smoother and _more_ obvious. But I don't want to add more controls.

about the stutter bug, could you maybe add the attack smoothing only on the lower end of the noise colour settings? no need to add the extra knob and functionality imo, just hardwire it with some settings that don't sound bad. i agree with who says it's quite good already

just a note to applaud your restraint. smackbox is immediate and deep enough to be tremendously useful as is, low enough on cpu to be used and automated readilystefancrs wrote:w00t, more features/complexity/cpu usage!

anyword on the render in FL issue?

I won't add any extra control for it. I will either just make it a fixed smoothing that works good on both high and low colour settings, or I will tie it to the colour setting.grillo wrote:about the stutter bug, could you maybe add the attack smoothing only on the lower end of the noise colour settings? no need to add the extra knob and functionality imo, just hardwire it with some settings that don't sound bad. i agree with who says it's quite good already

There was a few render bugs sorted in SynthMaker recently, so in the next version of smackbox we will know if that sorted the FL issue or not
