Okay, I feel like a huge n00b at the moment!
However, I am from the software generation.
Recently I bought my first hardware synth. Korg Radias. I am wondering how to record this thing.
I was hoping that the editor software would run has a VST, but not the case.
What do I need to do to record it?
I am using Protool LE 7.1 with an Mbox 2 (standard ver).
I was thinking setting up a Midi channel, having my MIDI out from Mbox to Radias and Audio outs from Radias to Mbox, and having an available audio channel recording that. Is this how it is done?
It would also to be nice to be able to play and edit the sound in real time as it is connected to my computer... would the above setup allow this?

For this you will need to run the midi out of the Radias into the MBox as well as the midi out from the MBox to the in of the keyboard. You want to create an audio and a midi track in PT, set the midi tracks in and output to the MBox channel 1. Then set the audio tracks input to the hardware iput that the keyboard is connected to.
This way when you record enable both tracks you will record both midi and audio. So if you need to edit the performance you can do so in midi but if there is a sound you can't duplicate you have it in audio form as well.

Interesting why it wouldnt record the knob movements. Because they send midi messages, shouldn't they be goign through the midi cable too.
When I set my Radias up as a midi keyboard though USB the knobs read and work in reason.
Also this brings up another question. Couldn't all that midi i/o data be going through usb, eliminating the need for midi cables at all.

Oh, I didn't know the Radias used USB hehe. Well, that ceratinly would work. 
As far as I know PT won't automatically look for CCs to record in incoming midi data, I may be wrong, it's been a while since I've recorded midi into Pro Tools. I know that it will automatically record the mod wheel and pitch bend but if you turn something like the cutoff it may not. You may have to enable new controllers to the automation lane.
On the midi track in Pro Tools there is a display box that indicates what is being displayed on the track. By default it's set to "Notes". If you pull down the menu, one of the options is controllers, and by default not all CCs are enabled to be recorded. If you select "add/remove controller" it will give you a list of CCs that it will record from incoming midi data. The only pain about that is you need to know what CC the knobs you plan on tweaking are set to. That info should be in the manual and also in the Global settings on the synth.

Yep got all the CC values handy, so shouldn't be a problem if I have to map them myself.
Haha yeah morphex, you are right about the looks. Except it looks so nice I'm scared of hurting it at all!
A very nice sounding synth and the vocoder is great... Possibly not as dirty as one might like. However, the Virus is my next planned purchase and I think these two could be a rather good synth couple!
