Don't appear to be for sale yet, though.

They seem to have forgotten/not notices that the Rhodes in recent years, in some circles, were viewed as kind of cool instruments. These shiny, gaudy bobbles are all Doc Severinsen/Paul Shaffer/Vegas show lounge. I'm sure the back-up band on American Idol has already placed an order. I wonder what impact, if any at all, it will have on the used market for old Rhodes keyboards?

This should really be in the Hardware forum, mind you.

not a plugin, not a virtual instrument at all ... as much as i love stagepianos, maybe put this to another section, as it's a bit misleading here ... my heart missed a step, when reading this topic, i thought rhodes we're finally selling a vsti ... :(

Really? Where?

Their store isn't operational yet, and there isn't a dealer list on the site.

Go on admit it, you're wearing a sequined tux and silver bow tie right now, aren't you?

These "shiny gaudy baubles" are available in black and white with matte finishes as well, so if you prefer somber that's an option. They are also lighter and more durable than the rhodes of yesteryear, which is something I'm sure many musicians will be happy about. As far as impacting the used market, it depends how expensive these new ones are, but I imagine it'll drive down the prices of used ones.

I suppose it's cute in a 'Moog' CDX way. No idea why anyone would want a 61-note rhodes though, the top surface is as unpractical as the original (i.e. not flat) and it's not going to be looking too red and shiny after a few roadies/pissed-up ivory tinklers have had their mits on it, or stacked a couple more keyboards on top of it. I have a Stage 73 Mark 1, which is built like a Tolex-covered coffin, and even that started to suffer after a couple of years of gigging. The out's in a daft place too.

Tony Clifton wants one for his band.

Personally, I'd get one of the AM models myself. A MIDIed Rhodes...

Why would you expect them to have any special expertise in that field anyway? :?
