is that constructive criticism for Vurt or is that a complaint from you?

Vurt, could you maybe mention somewhere that it's not what the unwashed masses think of as music?

It's Vurt, i think that goes without saying :hihi:

That way you won't waste these people's time

No one is forcing anyone to listen. In most cases, within the first 20 seconds of a piece, you'll be able to tell whether you'll like it or not. If you don't like it, turn it off. Simple. And you've only wasted 20 seconds of your life

who wanted to listen to what they, with their unrefined tastes, consider music?

who accused anyone of unrefined tastes? cry me a river dude....

It probably has some special name

Its rather common name would be minimalism or, something way out there called sound design :nutter:

that I in my woeful ignorance know nothing about.

Yes, the world needs more hate in it. I was just thinking that this morning. I hadn't felt sufficiently hated here recently. Well thanks Meloday. You're providing a useful service here.

Frequency-Algo deserved banishment, but the line about wearing a New Era Cap was pretty funny!

oh, please dont be so disingenuous. you're quite clearly trying to be offensive.

Check page 1 of the thread - temporary ban in place.

deservedly banned, if I understand it (that frequency algorythm is banned?)

Sounds like frequency algorythm is more interested in fashion than music!

And obviously has no idea what a 'scumbag' really is...otherwise 'he' would not have used this term to describe someone else!!!

Sickle wrote:This is great minimalism; restrained and purposeful. You chopped off a few transients here and there(when you normalized?) and courted digital clipping in some spots looking at the waveform, but that's no biggie.

Good to hear a new vurt piece; I have many to catch up on.

edit: 3:45 is definitely digital clipping. Shame, shame, John..

:P

not sure if there was any normalisation afterwards, cant remember. the clipping will be adressed in future i guess, this is just still rehearsals(steve asked for some kaoss pad in use though so i just got it down) so am still adding into the mix and such, probably end the chain with flatblaster eventually, but you know me, even then clipping is probably inevitable somewhere when recording straight. ;)

glad you enjoyed otherwise though 8)

it's very interesting yet pleasing in nice subtle ways. it ebbs and flows nicely. and it is far from boring!! i hope i don't sound like i'm just babbling on about it!

babble away :)

glad you enjoyed.

I can make something in Reaktor with a small enough footprint that you will be able to eliminate this as a problem. Takes me 5 minutes, but gotta sit down with the f**king Loved Ones for dinner.

I should extort your ass and only make it available over at vae solis to force your ass to come back for a visit.

I've also made adjustments to the sampler I made for you I need to get thrown your way.

But obviously tons of people here like it. So that's great. Good for you. It's a real hit. Obviously my tastes are quite different than the majority of people hanging out in the "music" cafe at KVR.

can i at least ask why you would be embarressed?

i wouldnt say your tastes differ from the majority, if you actually list the names of the people in the thread aside from me replying its not so many people, conversations happened and other things to fill out the thread.
either way does majority mean anything? do you do music/audio production for an audience or do you do it for yourself?

as for the song thing, i personally wouldnt call it a song, not for any pretentious reasons as you insinuate but because it is my opinion that a song is sung and has lyrics(i know this is not a set in stone description of what a song is) id call it a track maybe or a tune. as it really is id call it a performance but as i said to sickle this bit was recorded to demonstrate a piece of equipment someone asked me about.

id like to point out i had nothing to do with his banning, i may not have agreed with him and he may well be an ass but ive dealt with bigger asses in real life, i can cope with it here, tis only words from an unknown...
i did not inform any mods of his behaviour here in these threads so i guess he showed himself off elsewhere...

**Edited out, after considering it obvious, long diatribe about how Jay Sherman should actually be embarrassed by the shite music in his sig, as well as various other appropriately descriptive words & phrases about him, like: 'insulting, arrogant twat', 'piss-headed moron', 'gas-bag', 'waste of red blood cells', 'useless little tit', and so forth...

Morning.

I was similarly struck by said music. It would be churlish to detail what I perceive as its shortcomings, and, no doubt, any assessment would be perceived as purely punitive, but its definitely not what I think of as music worth listening to. Even for a bet.
