...and a fine day it is mate! :)

Agreed. I have considered that this may indeed be the reason why the perveyor of such pablum may be prompted to bully others' efforts in recognition, and therefore shame, of his own personal failure in life as in his music, the example of which as proffered perhaps the best of the lot he has to show, yet boring and amateurish still.

Cheers then,
Alex :D

Well because as you say yourself:
as i said to sickle this bit was recorded to demonstrate a piece of equipment someone asked me about.
I wouldn't put up a long piece in a music cafe as such. But I then pointed out that obviously plenty of people liked it so you hardly have anything to worry about. Obviously you have plenty of fans. (Although with some of your fans, I'd rather just not have any.)
i wouldnt say your tastes differ from the majority, if you actually list the names of the people in the thread aside from me replying its not so many people, conversations happened and other things to fill out the thread.
either way does majority mean anything? do you do music/audio production for an audience or do you do it for yourself?
No the majority doesn't mean anything. Do people at all matter? Yes.
I do it mostly for myself but I'm not trying to live in perfect isolation so not totally.
as for the song thing, i personally wouldnt call it a song, not for any pretentious reasons as you insinuate but because it is my opinion that a song is sung and has lyrics(i know this is not a set in stone description of what a song is) id call it a track maybe or a tune. as it really is id call it a performance but
OK, thank you. And although you seem a much more reasonable person than others here and as such it's not really necessary but just to clarify anyway, no offense intended on my part.

new vocabulary hints for KVR

: not getting annoyed when someone unnecessarily attacks one's work = 'reasonable'
: responding in kind to unnecessary attacks on someone else's work = 'unreasonable'
: unnecessarily attacking someone else's work = 'not offensive'
: portrayal of oneself as a 'victim' on the basis of responses to one's unnecessary attack on someone else's work = 'priceless'

Easily arranged.
I've just made a list of "people whose songs I'll never bother listening to because I think they're idiots" and you're number one on it. :P

Fairmont is a small town, so maybe Mr. Sherman just has no social skills?

However, I think that might be giving him more credit than he deserves. In my honest opinion, this is similar to "small penis syndrome" where the little guy drives for example, a Ford F350 supercab truck with a lift kit and huge tires to make himself feel big. in Sherman's case, the small part is his subconscious opinion of himself as an artist.

hey angry guy,

it's your right to dislike someone's music....but if you dislike it, you should criticise constructivley....that, or not post at all. instead, you came into this thread acting like an ass...

now you're turning your negative attitude away from the music and toward the people who appreciate the music. what is your goal here?

...if it was to be an ass, mission accomplished

.

ah now i see, not everything i put out is a finished total composition, infact very little of my output is ever completed. i guess people who have perhaps listened before know this and know what to expect from me.
and as for length, again people who know more about the way i work(i tend to hit a record button and just noodle on bits, not much sequencing involved, will record anything that makes a noise and if it doesnt ill hit it till it does)
in truth i enjoy the process far more than the end result, i find it relaxing to just allow myself to slip into another part of me :)
the fact that over the years ive posted, to begin with for advice on how to get such a sound or whatever, as time went on i got into routines that worked for me, the fact that some people enjoy listening is a bonus obviously, who wouldnt be a little pleased about that?

as for "my fans" id like to think that had you made the same comment in any thread it would have attracted attention, however something akin to "id be embaressed because you dont follow any time signature, melody is missing..." something a little constructive that i can at least answer, without me asking why. otherwise it may seem a little offensive to some, not so much me, im under no pretence that everyone will like what they hear from me.
just try to add a little idea about what you would do in a tune(if you have any obviously) or why a particular sound doesnt work for you, anything at all, i dont think people mind negative criticism so much but as we are artists we have to do better than "id be embaressed" or "this is shit" we have to show we have knowledge of that which we speak, or we do end up looking like an ass.

hope this helps explain a little more about me and in turn maybe a little more about my tracks.

the one thing people, me included, missed out on is that you did listen, for that i thank you, and if it didnt float your boat im sure theres plenty of stuff somewhere in the cafe that will, and is also surely more deserving of your time than wherever this will lead from here :)

sincerely thanks for listening :)
