Hello Image-Line and everyone:

I would like to suggest that I-L set up a "PayPal" button on their web site so people like me can contribute cash to the development/completion of DirectWave, in Argu's memory.

It's a cause I think many of us might want to contribute to, and I would be happy to provide a generous cash contribution to this important effort.

I would like to thank JMC, Image-Line, and Maxx Claster for keeping Argu's vision of a complete software sampler alive by extending and improving DirectWave.

Post

Well, I just BOUGHT a copy this A.M., so I hope it's developed and complete.

I just wished I had seen this post BEFORE I hit ImageLine's "PAY' button.

Don't worry, Deckadance is still being developed. Luis Cerrano, of KontrolDJ fame, has taken it up.

Post

I hope DirectWave is still being supported.

Asking that donations be made to a for-profit company for the continued development of a commercial product is really weird. I hope that it was an unofficial request.

And it is FruityLoops. At least that's who handles the financial and registration end for ImageLine. (I just registered DirectWave on their website this AM).

Post

DirectWave will definitely still be supported. Maxx, who created ToxicIII, PoiZone and Morphine will take it over.

Btw, Image-Line is the company, Fruityloops (now FL Studio), DirectWave, Deckadance, ... are products. Just to avoid misunderstanding eachother :)

Not so weird actually. Something is really broken in the music software business. Somehow, vendors have skipped over most critical sampler functionality in their "softsampler" offerings. Kontakt 3 is supposed to address this but I personally doubt native-instruments.com will ever deliver anything usable in the sampler space.

It's might seem crazy, but I agree with "bluepride". The world does need a fully operational VSTi sampler. Arguru understood this and was so close to realizing this important goal for Mac and PC - for all of us.

Arguru's vision is important and shared by many. I too would be honored to make a financial contribution to this important effort if Image Line thought it would help.

Wow, this is possibly the stupidest f**king idea i've ever heard.

Maybe if you had a girlfriend you wouldn't need to give all your money to a business to continue the development of a commercial product...

Nice idea. Get a life :)

Aren't you nice?

I think your comment is a really important one though because it shows a deep lack of understanding of what this thread is all about. For people like me, and Arguru too I believe, making great software is a passion. It's not just about money. Each and every one of Arguru's music software efforts shows off his great skill, determination, and vision.

And there is no Arguru software more bold, forward-looking and just plain great than DirectWave.

My offer to Image-Line stands: I'd be happy to make a cash donation (in Euros, not dollars :D) to the continuation of DirectWave development in Arguru's memory if they think it would help.

I don't get your arguement. It's in Image Line's best interest to keep directwave going, obviously. (well, maybe not..)

Yeah, but i actually sort of like the idea of paying tribute to someone's memory by offering to support the continuation of their work..... i.e. more appropriate than simply donating to some scholarship fund or the save the red sea turtle foundation, etc.

lately when i get paranoid about my health; leaving my creative 'works'/endeavors in an un-blossomed state, to be lost/forgotten with no one to carry it on, concerns me moreso than my physical person being quickly forgotten.
Ideas are bulletproof... I am not.

well, I'm sure ImageLine will be glad to continue to take your money.
:hihi:
I don't get where some of y'all are coming from on this, but hey, it's your money.

Go ahead. Send your money to IL/FL. Maybe it'll go to the future development of DirectWave. Maybe not.

But the last time *I* noticed (Saturday, I believe) IL/FL weren't giving their products away for nothing.

You know, I hear a couple auto makers in Detroit are having a real hard time these days. I hear the Cadillac Escalade is a real nice car. Maybe you might think of sending THEM some money, too.

No, really, this actually is weird. I could understand if this was a free plug-in that needed help from the community, but this is a commercial product that has already been assigned to or asked for by some very competent commercial devs. Sending the money to a charity selected by Arguru's family makes way more sense. Sorry, I just find this idea, no matter how well meant, in need of redirection.

A)the coder of one of your commercial products is dead, take 5 bucks.
B)your son is dead and i like his software, take 5 bucks.

this thread is awkward at best.
